BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) logged its largest daily trading volume on Wednesday, U.S. presidential election day, which saw pro-crypto Republican candidate Donald Trump reclaim the White House. “For context, that's more volume than stocks like Berkshire, Netflix or Visa saw today,” Bloomberg Senior ETF Analyst Eric Balchunas commented on X.

💰 Mt. Gox moves $2 billion in Bitcoin, sparking speculation of additional repayments

Mt. Gox, the defunct crypto exchange, has transferred more than $2 billion worth of Bitcoin into two newly created wallets, according to data from Arkham Intelligence. Data from the blockchain analytics platform shows that Mt. Gox executed this transaction on Nov. 4 at 23:38 UTC. Most of these funds, totaling 30,371 BTC, were directed to an unknown wallet address labeled “1FG2C.” About an hour later, around 2000 BTC was transferred to the address “15gNR.”

The price of Bitcoin had fallen from a recent high of about $72,600 on Oct. 31 to a low of about $67,500.

💰 21Shares looks to secure SEC approval for XRP ETF amid growing interest in other crypto funds

Investment firm 21Shares is pursuing regulatory approval for a spot XRP exchange-traded fund, following similar proposals from other companies. 21Shares filed an S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Friday. The fund, called the 21Shares Core XRP Trust, will be listed on the Cboe BZX Exchange. Coinbase Custody Trust Company will be its custodian.

🇺🇸 DOJ indicts Gotbit CEO for allegedly orchestrating massive wash trading scheme

The Department of Justice has indicted Aleksei Andriunin, founder and CEO of crypto financial services firm Gotbit, on charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit market manipulation. Andriunin, a Russian national residing in Portugal, allegedly orchestrated a scheme to artificially inflate trading volumes for client crypto companies, including several based in the US. He was arrested on Oct. 16.

💰 Bitcoin price pullback and volatility likely as US election approaches, Standard Chartered says

Bitcoin may see a price pullback ahead of the U.S. presidential election on Nov. 5, with increased volatility expected in the days following, according to Standard Chartered’s Global Head of Digital Assets Research Geoff Kendrick. Despite reaching $73,563 on Tuesday, bitcoin has been unable to break above its all-time high above $73,700 set on March 14. Kendrick suggested pre-election position liquidations could drive prices lower, making a breakout above the digital asset's all-time high less likely.

Analysts at BitMEX Research argued MicroStrategy is “highly unlikely” to be forced to sell its bitcoin holdings based on its current debt structure. However, given the volatility of the cryptocurrency, “anything is possible,” they said. The business intelligence firm is the largest corporate holder of bitcoin, with 252,220 BTC, currently valued at over $17 billion, at a total cost of around $9.9 billion.

💰 Institutional interest soars as CME bitcoin futures open interest sets new all-time high

As of Oct. 18, open interest (OI) on Bitcoin futures traded on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) has reached a new all-time high of over $12.26 billion. This figure is up over 36% in the last two weeks and more than 3.5% higher than its previous all-time high, set in April. The surge in OI in recent weeks represents a sharp increase from previous levels seen during the summer. It is the highest recorded figure since April 1, when CME OI was at $11.84 billion.
