These stone dams at Pokagon State Park were built during a time of economic scarcity by the labor of Hoosiers enrolled in the Civilian Conservation Corp, a work relief program that helped unemployed men to put food on the table for their families. As we honor their work that still stands today-let us also honor the sweat and toil they offered in service of their community and families, and seek to emulate this same spirit of devoted energy in our own.
