If youre driving along the road and you spot them, wait to stop until you're out of their sight. Stopping right in front of them draws too much attention. Stalk your way back to them. If they start to run, you should too, preferably like a retarded kid that just heard the ice cream truck, just a bit quieter. I've done this and gotten turkies I spooked. Follow where you saw them go, or follow the gobbles. Worst case scenario, you're tired. Best case scenario, you've got a turkey.

There's the disclaimer that goes along with everything --what works for me, may not work for thee-- and that's why I aim to post more information on this aside from anecdotal experience.

Small game hunting can be one of the most productive methods of aquiring food. Lots of people gloss over small game, at least where I live, which leads to them being less wary. These are turkies I came across during a fishing trip last march, on public riverbottom. I'm still kicking myself in the ass about not bringing the shotgun. For turkies, I hardly call. I'm not saying calling doesent work. Just that I normally don't call, because I don't have too. Sitting in a riverbottom or creekbed with a few fields and cover close by usually produces a turkey by 7:30 in the evening, as long as you're in an area with a good turkey population. If there's a lot of riverbottom to cover, with a clear line of sight, I usually slowly walk the road going alongside the bottom, spotting and stalking turkies as I go. Terrain and cover are your greatest assets when stalking, as turkies have exceptional eyesight. Challenging, but fun. All the turkies I've killed have been with 20 gauge 3 inch shells using size 6 shot, full choke.


Build your home. Build your Tribe. Draw a Line in the Sand. To hell with the Carrion Empire and its politics, trends, and values. Everything that matters is right beside you, in your home and hearth and heart, not in Washington DC, not on the TV, and not in some antiquated ideal of "Western Civilization." You are not here to save their civilization. You are not the Last of Yesterday. You are the First of Tomorrow.

Be a Force of Nature.


Pickling is one of my favorite methods to preserve eggs. I usually use the left over juice from pickles and add pickling spice (not very much), garlic, peppercorns, jalapenos ( if I have them). Put it all in a pot and heat it almost to a boil. I Pour it over the eggs (if not enough to cover, I add apple cider vinegar), And let them soak about a week before I eat them. Its important to let the liquid cool before pouring it on eggs. Also run a toothpick through the eggs. That leaves a hole that lets the liquid get to the middle quicker.


If you have little ones, take them out to the woods to tag along with you whenever you go. It teaches them some of the most valuble lessons and is the greatest bonding imaginable. It is your duty to do this for your children.

Keep in mind smoking takes several hours, and you will need to check on your meat to make sure it's not going to give you botulism.


Food preservation, while it may seem complicated, is pretty simple. Even sub-saharan joggers can do it. If you haven't seen my post on the cheap dehydrator setup, that's up above. This post is going to focus mainly on smoking food.

Just about any meat you can think of can be smoked. Turkey, trout, venison, the list goes on.

An adequate smoker can be easily constructed from repurposed materials for little to no cost. The photograph above shows one made from an old fridge. My father built one very similar to this, and it's been working for 30 years, a helluva lot longer than anything made in China. A heat source --in my father's case, a hot plate-- is placed in the bottom of the fridge. A bowl full of wood is placed on top of the hot plate. This is where the smoke and the heat comes from. Get yourself a meat thermometer, and drill a hole in the door just big enough to put the thermometer shaft in. This will allow you to determine if your meat is at the desired temperature.


This is the dream. Having the skills, grit, and determination to enact your Will upon this earth. To know when to work in concert with nature, and when to work against it. To be able to work alone, or in a group.

A 12 inch trout is perfect size for this. After you've gutted and filleted the fish, put them in brine with 16:1:1 ratio of water, salt, and sugar (optional) and about 3 tablespoons of liquid smoke. Let it sit overnight in a fridge, rinse it off, and put it in for 12 hours at 150. Taking the ribs out of the fillet beforehand makes eating the fish much easier.


Preserving food isn't hard. Or expensive. This setup ran me less than 80 dollars total, and takes up virtually no space. The dehydrator is an LEM 5 tray that cost me 65 bucks. 1lb of coarse kosher salt and a 2lb bag of brown sugar cost me 5 bucks. Ziploc bags and brine containers also ran about 5 bucks. Just for shits and giggles, I even threw in a bottle of liquid smoke which cost 3 bucks. The great thing about a dehydrator is their easy to use, inexpensive, and can preserve damn near anything. I've done fish, jerkey, berries, apples, and all sorts of other things with this.
