51% Of Nairobi Women Open 10 Entering Polygamous Marriages Provided It Comes With Economic Advantages.

The study by Mwelekeo Insights surveyed 2,687 women aged 18-30 and found that 59% believe marriage is not essential for a fulfilling life, valuing personal achievements and independence more. Additionally, 80% prioritize financial stability and career growth over marriage. Highly educated and employed women are less likely to see marriage as important.

The survey also revealed that 60% think marriage could limit their freedom, while 25% view it positively. Regarding religion, 53% feel it influences their marriage views, while 33% see it as having little impact. Overall, attitudes towards marriage among young Nairobi women are changing, focusing more on personal and financial independence.
