location – above all women*. There is only free applause for nurses* instead of finally guaranteeing them humane working conditions. The state brings back more than 150,000 stranded German tourists with airplanes. The admission of 50 (!) unaccompanied youths is like a mockery. Fugitives are still accommodated in collective centres such as Lindenstraße, which exposes them to a far greater risk of infection.
This false solidarity knows only the business location Germany, which should be brought out of the crisis as mildly as possible. Germany is closing down and the ones who suffer are those who were the losers before: Refugees in the centralized camps in Bremen as well as along Europe’s borders, homeless, precariously employed.
For a real, boundless solidarity
We should stop sitting at home and just read in the news what the state is making up for us. The state is taking, in addition to what is now urgently needed, pointless and authoritarian measures that cannot be justified by infection control: Restriction and partial abolition of freedom of assembly, closed borders. Even sea rescue, which is an international right, is to be omitted.
Let us therefore call for genuine, global solidarity instead of national closure. Fight already today for the post-Corona world.
Special times require alternative protest ideas. We have decided to organize a motorcade to minimize the risk of COVID-19 infection. We are aware that cars do not contribute to climate protection. Nevertheless, we have decided to do so in order to have the opportunity to protest loudly in the city centre as well as at the first reception point in Lindenstraße in the north of Bremen. Take part, even if you don’t get into a car – paint a banner and hang it out the window or put it in front of your front door. Make noise. Speak out in your social channels for a closure of Lindenstraße and show not only your neighbours that solidarity does not stop in your own street and not at the borders.
