Pavel Durov Reports Telegram Turns Profitable, Says Telegram Premium as Key Factor
#Telegram, the privacy-focused social media platform closely linked to the #TON #blockchain, has achieved profitability for the first time, according to co-founder Pavel Durov. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Durov highlighted the platform’s milestone, emphasizing over a decade of work and a commitment to user-first principles.
Durov revealed that Telegram surpassed $1 billion in revenue this year, with cash reserves exceeding $500 million, excluding its substantial crypto holdings. He noted that this success reflects Telegram’s ability to grow without intrusive monetization or compromising user rights.
A significant contributor to this achievement has been Telegram Premium, a subscription service launched in 2022.
@Premium now boasts over 12 million users, tripling its subscriber base in 2024. Alongside this, advertising revenue has seen rapid growth.
Telegram has also embraced new tools like Stars, Gifts, and Mini Apps to diversify income streams while empowering users and businesses. Additionally, the platform’s deep integration with blockchain technology, including features like crypto wallets and token giveaways, has made it a pivotal player in the decentralized economy.
Despite legal challenges and controversies over content moderation, Telegram continues to grow, with over 1.5 billion users and a strong position in both Web2 and Web3.
