在校園青春類型的美劇，常常出現畢業舞會（Prom）的橋段，對西方高中生來說，參與舞會象徵學生時期的重要里程碑，同時也是一個能展現自我的場合。

從籌備到參與的每個環節都會精心準備，包括打理穿搭、邀約對象、社交互動、表演才藝等。同時，舞會上通常會由學生投票選出一位「舞會國王」（Prom King）與一位「舞會女王」（Prom Queen），並進行加冕儀式，象徵榮耀與肯定。都顯示參加舞會深深影響著青少年的自我價值與認同感。

想像一下，如果你是輪椅使用者，抵達會場後才發現舞會在二樓，卻沒有電梯能夠到達；如果你是自閉症者，舞會現場燈光閃爍、音樂震耳欲聾，卻沒有一個安靜空間讓你能稍作喘息；如果你是視障者，來到自助晚宴區，卻發現餐點沒有任何點字標示讓你辨識食物的種類。這些不被注意到的參與門檻，卻可能讓許多障礙者望而卻步。

為了改變這樣的現況，由 Tim Tebow 基金會發起的 Night to Shine（閃耀之夜） 應運而生，致力於打造一個無障礙的舞會，讓每位參與者都能盡情享受這場盛宴。

Night to Shine 是一項全球性的公益活動，每年在情人節前的星期五晚上，由世界各地的教會舉辦，讓 14 歲以上且有特殊需求的身心障礙者能參與舞會。透過與贊助商、基金會的合作，Night to Shine 確保每一位與會者都能夠有相同的機會享受這場舞會。
