Before attempting to assassinate Donald Trump, Ryan Wesley Routh racked up a very lengthy criminal record.
According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections, Trump shooter Ryan Wesley Routh was charged with possession of a weapon of mass destruction in 2002 while NBC News reported that more than 100 criminal counts have been filed against Routh in North Carolina.

screenshot from the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections shows the charge. The Department of Homeland Security defines a weapon of mass destruction as a “nuclear, radiological, chemical, biological, or other device that is intended to harm a large number of people” and goes on to say the agency “works every day to prevent terrorists and other threat actors from using these weapons to harm Americans.”

NBC News reported that the weapon of mass destruction was not a radiological, nuclear, biological or chemical weapon however, but rather a fully automatic firearm – without also possessing an NFA clearance for owning such a weapon, a legal requirement for possessing fully automatic firearms.

“In 2002, court records show, he was convicted of possessing a weapon of mass destruction — a machine gun,” Dennis Romero said in NBC News on Sunday. “After the 2002 arrest, authorities said they found the suspect in possession of a fully automatic machine gun, according to the Greensboro News & Record. The arrest coincides with North Carolina criminal court records that include Routh’s conviction for possession of a weapon of mass destruction.”

It is also reported that Routh has an extensive criminal history yet often skirts time behind bars.
“There is no record of time spent in state prison related to those cases in the early 2000s,” Dennis Romero said in NBC News on Sunday. “Court records show more than 100 criminal counts have been filed against Ryan Routh in North Carolina, most in Guilford County, which underlies Greensboro. The exact outcome of each case was not immediately clear.”

The fact Routh seems to avoid hard prison time is interesting, as Infowars reported that the shooting was a likely case of an ‘inside job’ operation, as Trump’s near-fatal golf game was a last minute decision.
