French transport workers are striking to protest the privatization of the country’s railway system, as well as other austerity measures being pushed by Macron.

These neoliberal reforms come at a time of weak government legitimacy. A coalition of the left, the New Popular Front, won the legislative elections in the summer. However, Macron has refused to let them assume the prime minister’s office. Instead, he appointed former EU bureaucrat and conservative politician Michel Barnier at the time, despite Barnier’s party losing badly in the elections. Barnier's lack of support led him to losing a no confidence motion last week.

Workers argue Macron is rushing through major structural neoliberal reforms before leaving office, knowing they’ll be difficult to undo in the future.

Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reports that HTS representatives told Palestinian resistance groups in Syria that they will no longer be supplied with weapons and their training camps and military HQs will be shut down.

Islamic Jihad, the second most prominent armed faction in Gaza, is one of the groups with a military presence in Syria.

On this day 87 years ago, Japanese troops slaughtered up to 300,000 Chinese in a horrific massacre that made even the Nazis tremble. “To forget a Holocaust is to kill twice,” and the “forgotten Holocaust of WWII” truly has been forgotten.

Over a period of six weeks, the Japanese terrorized the Chinese city of Nanjing in what is known as the Nanjing Massacre or the “Rape of Nanjing.” In addition to the mass murder, Japanese troops also committed other war crimes such as mass rape, looting, and arson. Up to 80,000 women were raped, and around a third of the buildings in what was then China’s capital were destroyed. Read on to learn more about this largely forgotten chapter of WW2.

Indigenous Amazonian communities in Ecuador have seized the governor’s building in the region of Napo to protest against the construction of a mega-jail on their territory.

The right-wing government of President Noboa is attempting to build more jails to deal with the skyrocketing rate of crime. Crime has exploded ever since leftist President Rafael Correa left office in 2016.

Under President Correa, Ecuador’s homicide rate was the second lowest in South America. Since 2016, the country has had three neoliberal governments and the number of violent deaths has increased by 500%. This has resulted in Ecuadorians becoming one of the fastest growing groups of migrants attempting to reach the US as people seek to flee growing poverty and violence.

🟡 Famous Al-Jazeera TV host Faisal Al-Qassem recently called for mass beheadings by guillotine of Assad loyalists on social media. Faisal Al-Qassam hosts the program “The Opposite Direction,” which has long been considered highly controversial. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić’s live address to protesting students was not received well. Over 40 universities are being blockaded by students who are demanding accountability from the government after the awning of a railway station collapsed and killed 15 people.

The railway station awning recently underwent reconstruction, which was facilitated by a Chinese company. Protesters blame its collapse on the corrupt and decadent ruling elite, and are calling for top officials to resign and be arrested.

“Homeland or Death!” are the famous words communist revolutionary Ernesto “Che” Guevara said at the UN General Assembly on this day in 1964. In his speech, Che denounced US interventions worldwide and called for resistance against imperialism.

Six decades later, Che’s words remain as relevant as ever, as the Palestinian people continue their unwavering resistance against the Israeli occupation, acting on behalf of US imperialism in the Middle East.

During his first visit to Gaza in 1959, Che told Palestinian refugees that they must continue their struggle to liberate their homeland. Resisting the occupation was the only way, he said. Che admitted that their case was “complex” because the new Jewish settlers occupied their homes. “The right must eventually be restored,” he affirmed.
