MAPUTO, MOZAMBIQUE - Tear Gas Fired at Protesters in Mozambique Capital

A massive demonstration in Maputo, Mozambique, turned violent on Thursday as police fired tear gas to disperse protesters denouncing alleged election fraud. The protesters, mostly young men, were calling for action against the governing Frelimo party, which was declared the winner of last month's election, extending its nearly five-decade rule.

The demonstration, the largest yet against the Frelimo party, saw protesters barricade streets with burning tyres and wave homemade signs in support of opposition leader Venancio Mondlane. Mondlane has claimed the October 9 election was rigged and had called for a week of protests, culminating in Thursday's event.

As the protesters marched towards the city centre, police attempted to stop them, resorting to tear gas in an effort to disperse the crowd.

In India, calls for a Hindu Rashtra are often seen as acceptable, yet advocating for Khalistan or Kashmiri independence is labeled as terrorism and a threat to India's secularism. This reflects a double standard. 😂😂😂

Israeli Airstrike in Khan Younis Claims Lives of Seven Family Members

Hani Mahmoud
Reporting from Deir Al Balah, Gaza

The situation in the northern part of the Gaza Strip is extremely dire, but the violence is not confined to that area.

The southern part of Khan Younis has just experienced an attack. An airstrike conducted by the Israeli military targeted a residential home, resulting in the deaths of seven family members, including four children.

Three young boys who were inside the house have been transferred to Nasser Medical Complex for treatment.

Strikes continue throughout the Strip today.

In addition to the people who have been missing and trapped under rubble for the past few days due to attacks on residential buildings in the northern region, such as in Beit Lahiya and Jabalia refugee camp, hundreds of thousands of others are also trapped in their homes without adequate access to food, water, medicine, or life-saving resources.

They are compelled to leave their homes, but as soon as they step outside, they become targets and are pursued by drones. Numerous documented cases exist of individuals being chased and killed in the streets of the northern Gaza Strip.

Activists lead symbolic funeral in Oslo to commemorate killed Gaza journalists
Pro-Palestinian supporters led a large march in the streets of the Norwegian capital, Oslo, to commemorate journalists killed in Israel’s wars, footage verified by Al Jazeera shows.

The protesters organised a march carrying a coffin wrapped in the Palestinian flag – a symbolic funeral for the tens of thousands of people killed by Israel in more than a year. Activists denounced the ongoing Israeli wars on Gaza and Lebanon, and called for the liberation of Palestine.

Leading the march were people holding pictures of dozens of killed journalists while other protesters raised Palestinian flags.

This event coincided with the 107th anniversary of the “Balfour Declaration”, which turned the Zionist aim of establishing a Jewish state in Palestine into a reality when UK Foreign Secretary Arthur Balfour pledged to establish “a national home for the Jewish people” there.

Outrage Erupts Over Israeli Warship's Passage Through Suez Canal

A video depicting an Israeli warship navigating through the Suez Canal has ignited significant outrage on social media, with many accusing the Egyptian government of permitting Israel's military to transit through the strategic waterway. Critics expressed their discontent, questioning Egypt's stance and its implications for regional relations.

In response to the backlash, the Egyptian government clarified that international conventions governing maritime navigation allow for the free passage of all vessels, regardless of their country of origin. This statement aimed to emphasize Egypt's adherence to established maritime laws and to mitigate concerns regarding the implications of the Israeli warship's presence in the canal.

The incident has sparked a broader discussion about the geopolitical dynamics in the region and the role of international maritime law in facilitating or restricting naval movements. As the situation unfolds, reactions continue to pour in from various stakeholders, reflecting the complexities of the ongoing tensions in the area.

Yahya Al-Sinwar: The Lion of Gaza and His Final Message

New details have emerged about the martyrdom of Yahya Al-Sinwar, who was killed in an Israeli military operation in the Tel Al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, located in the southern Gaza Strip. This incident was followed by a message from Yahya to his family, sent two days after his death, detailing the circumstances of his nephew Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Sinwar’s passing.

According to reports, Yahya Al-Sinwar shared with his family the location of Ibrahim's burial. At the time, the two were living together, and due to Yahya’s frequent movement to avoid Israeli bombings, the message took over two months to reach his family.

Ibrahim Muhammad Al-Sinwar, nephew of Yahya and son of Muhammad Al-Sinwar, was a prominent commander within the Al-Qassam Brigades. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike while emerging from a tunnel in Rafah to monitor Israeli forces. Yahya later wrote to Ibrahim's family, explaining the details of his nephew’s death and the burial place, which was located in an underground tunnel. He assured them that Ibrahim’s body was respectfully buried, with funeral prayers held in his honor.

On October 17, the Israeli army released a video documenting Yahya Al-Sinwar’s death, describing the operation as an unplanned encounter that resulted in his death.

---

May Allah accept Yahya Al-Sinwar as a martyr and grant him the highest ranks in Jannah. May He also grant patience and comfort to his family during this difficult time.
