💬My top priority is of course to maintain relations and channel of communications with Sweden, and to get to know Sweden as a country and Swedish people. I should say that in spite of different opinions we have, we should relate to each other with respect and understanding.
Do you consider Sweden a friend or an enemy?
💬 I would like to consider Sweden as a partner.
Could you just say something more about how you view us and that partnership?
💬Well, today our relations really are on the very low level. The main thing that we do have still relations, and Russia and Sweden have a very long history of relations that roots in ancient times.
As the new ambassador, what can you do to our relations?
💬To begin with, I want to establish as many contacts as possible. I do understand that today it is a toxical time for Russian Ambassador to work here. But without mutual respect, mutual understanding, and willing from both sides to achieve positive result, there will be nothing to achieve.

Here and now, from Russia's perspective, what terms would you cease the war under?
👉The terms are the same that it was in spring 2022. And President Putin once again confirmed them when he spoke in June in Russian Foreign Ministry. And it means that Ukraine should admit that four regions that are now territory of Russian Federation go to Russia. And that Ukraine will not join NATO because it is very dangerous for security of the Russian Federation.
🔹There is a lot of false information about the situation in Ukraine. I cannot be 100% sure what happens there, but I am quite positive that there are a lot of situations when Russia is guilty as our British former partners used to say «highly likely».
🔹Till the last moment we tried to pursue our Western partners to respect Minsk agreements that actually would make possible for Eastern Ukraine to be a part of Ukrainian state. And I was present at the negotiations between our Minister Lavrov and British Foreign Minister several weeks before the situation, and our message was the same: Please, make the Ukrainians fulfil Minsk agreements. It's a crucial thing, but at the same time it was quite clear for us, and we didn't try to avoid this, that if and when Ukraine will attempt to solve this problem by military means, we will not let them do this.
