Hi everyone, I'm the CEO and sysadmin of this project.
I want to clarify a couple of things:
- I have NOT stolen any files or data from the server on which the bot was hosted and everything attached to it. (I would like to invite you to think about how this is possible in the first place, given that to access the server that hosted the project, various security steps are necessary, precisely to avoid malicious access)
The question is very simple, a negotiation was underway to give the project to another more valid and active developer, given that the previous one had not updated the bot for more than 4 months and deliberately left a lot of serious security holes in the code.
- The previous developer was informed of this negotiation but preferred to ignore me and the new developer rather than answer us and tell us what he thought.
And since the project is mine and I own the intellectual and the IT property of it, I am free to do whatever I want with it.
Until proven otherwise, the brand name, domains, servers, and part of the graphics of the service are my property.
The fact that he removed me from the admin of the main channel and even banned me from the official groups does not mean anything, as I repeat I have all the rest of the project (code, database, configurations, and servers).
I don't see how he can get an entire platform back online without all of that, but having just 2 channels and groups (totally inactive by the way)
Returning to point 1:
The code of the entire bot, site and web platform, as well as the database with user data and surveys, have been uploaded to private GitLab repositories to keep backup copies and be able to restore everything easily in case of accidental damage to the server or to easily transfer the entire project from one server to another should it be necessary.
And I want to clarify that all this the previous developer knew and also approved as it seemed convenient to him (and I would add: "logical that it is, which serious developer does not consider git comfortable?")
Anyway, according to what he wrote, tomorrow the bot will magically come back online.
How will it do? I have no idea since its capabilities with Linux systems and servers are 0.
Will he host the bots by untrustworthy people (cc
@lucathehacker (PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OF HIS SERVICES) or will he return to hosting from altervista.org? (Which for those of you who don't know them, is a free Italian hosting provider, created by a company that deals with... books 🤦♂️)
It won't help, but as I speak in good faith, I'll leave a couple of proofs attached below to prove my ownership of this project.
That said, as soon as the funds are found, THE REAL MasterPoll will be back online, until then, I invite you not to use the bot as it is NOT safe.
And in case of other unlawful actions by the old developer, it will go through legal channels.
Good evening,
Mark, CEO @ MasterPoll!
