Morning summary of SMO on April 18, 2024

▪️Yesterday, the Russian Armed Forces launched a missile strike on Chernigov, hitting a personnel deployment point. The attack also hit Konstantinovka; enemy personnel were hiding in the school. During the day, our troops attacked targets in Starokonstantinov, Khmelnitsky region, Kiev region, Krivoy Rog, Odessa region, Kurakhovo (part of the DPR occupied by the Ukrainian Armed Forces).

▪️In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Armed Forces again deployed small landing groups to Krynki, somewhat expanding their presence in the village stretching along the coast. The total number of enemy personnel is no more than 100 people, the enemy is limited in the ability to manoeuvre, but moves from cover to cover in Krynki itself. One civilian was killed and four were wounded from enemy shelling of Kakhovka.

▪️On the Zaporozhye front, the Russian Armed Forces repelled an enemy counterattack northwest of Verbovoy, the enemy sent a group of 7 infantrymen into battle. At Rabotino, our troops covered the armoured vehicle deployment area with artillery fire. People on the ground are reporting the insufficient level of organization and equipment of our electronic warfare. The Ukrainian Armed Forces' drones are active.

▪️In the South Donetsk direction, the Russian Armed Forces are expanding the control zone in the south of Krasnogorovka. Fighting continues in Novomikhailovka.

▪️North-west of Avdeevka, the Russian Armed Forces are conducting active offensive operations near the village Ocheretino, in the area of Semyonovka and Berdychi. Our troops are trying to cover Novokalinovo from the north.

▪️The offensive against Chasov Yar continues. The Russian Armed Forces operate on the eastern outskirts of the city, gaining a foothold southwest of Bogdanovka, repelling the enemy’s counterattack. From the remnants of the Ivanovo (Red) unit of the Ukrainian Armed Forces they report their difficult situation.

▪️In the Seversky direction, fighting is going on in the direction of Vyemka and Bogdanovka. The line of combat contact in the Krasnolimansk direction near Ternov remains unchanged.

▪️Yesterday, by nightfall, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched a strike from the Vampire MLRS on Belgorod, the Russian Ministry of Defence reported the interception of 14 missiles, a total of 22 shells were announced. In the village of Razumnoye, as a result of a direct hit in a private residential building, a woman received a shrapnel wound to her left foot.

▪️In the Voronezh region in the evening, enemy UAVs tried to attack an oil depot, suppressed electronic warfare drones fell on a lumber warehouse, and a fire broke out.

▪️In the Rostov region, at about 02:00 at night, 3 UAVs were destroyed in the Kamensk-Shakhtinsky area. In the first half of the day, UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces were destroyed over Tatarstan and Mordovia.

▪️In the DPR, three civilians were wounded from shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine: in Donetsk and Avdeevka. In total, the Nazis fired 54 shells at the civilian population of the DPR.

Google has sacked 28 employees involved in a strike against a $1.2bn contract with Israel

The workers staged a 10-hour sit-in at one of the company's offices in New York and California to protest the company's cloud contract with Israel.

Under the $1.2bn Nimbus project, Google Cloud and Amazon Web Services provide cloud computing and artificial intelligence services to the Israeli government and military.

The Post specifies that the employees were pro-Palestinian protesters and were fired the day after the strike. Google's vice president of global security Chris Rakow called their behaviour "disruptive" and "unacceptable".
