New Religions, Old Rejection
Consider Islam.
Muhammed came on to the scene six centuries after Jesus Christ.
Muhammed taught a new religion - and gained many followers (by spear point).
Muhammed agreed with MANY Christian teachings.
Muhammed believed Jesus was the Messiah.
Muhammed believed Jesus did miracles.
Muhammed believed Jesus was born of a virgin.
Muhammed believed in the God of Abraham.
Muhammed attested to the authority of Scripture as revealed by the Prophets.
You’re probably thinking, “Wow, Jarrin! I basically believe what Muhammed believed. Christianity & Islam are basically the same religion. There’s no need to fuss & fight over little details - let’s all get along!!”
And if you think that, then you probably believe a false gospel.
Why?
Muhammed affirmed basically everything about Christianity EXCEPT:
1. Jesus Christ didnt die on the cross (Quran 4:157)
2. Jesus Christ didnt rise from the grave (Quran 5:117)
3. Jesus Christ was not God (Quran 4:171)
Now, why do I bring up Islam?
Recently, I hit a bramble patch of vibe-people & Christ consciousness people.
“Vibe people” are folks that have trouble separating the necessity of the gospel of Jesus Christ (death, burial, resurrection) from their personal healing and/or science.
Christ consciousness people have trouble believing the gospel of Jesus Christ (death, burial, resurrection) is actually true and not just a story.
Both groups have the same issue as Islam: the rejection of the gospel of Jesus Christ (His death, burial, resurrection).
Now, this may not be an outright “that didnt happen” rejection, but to not set apart the gospel as THE issue for salvation is to either diminish salvation or elevate a competitor.
There is nothing equal to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Acoustics/vibes may be true. But no vibration (even God speaking things into existence) rivals the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Christ consciousness is a Luciferian doctrine - literally laid out by a guy named Spangler in “Reflections on the Christ” - he wrote that “no one would enter the New Age without a Luciferic Initiation.”
Muhammed denied Christ even though he accepted most of Jesus ‘ teachings.
Vibe people elevate an aspect of Creation to rival the gospel’s importance.
Christ consciousness folks get their ideas direct from Satan worshippers.
Why is it difficult to stay with “just the gospel”?
Why do people feel the need to add or take away from the gospel?
The gospel of Jesus Christ is simple. It’s straightforward.
And maybe that’s the issue: simplicity & directness.
The new religions popping up will all give varying levels of deference to the truth: that Jesus Christ is the truth.
But all of these new religions have an old rejection: that Jesus Christ is not sufficient.
Strap in, folks.
Worldviews are gonna get a lot more muddled before all this is over.
Read your Bible.
Believe your Bible.
Dont add to it.
Dont take away from it.
Trust that the gospel of Jesus Christ is sufficient for eternal salvation.
