A court in Nyahururu has found former Nyandarua Governor Daniel Waithaka Mwangi guilty of procurement-related offences.

The charges stem from a contract awarded in 2014 without adherence to procurement procedures.

Waithaka and former County Executive Grace Wanjiru Gitonga were convicted for approving a project without proper planning and issuing a Ksh50 million contract to M/s TAHAL Consulting Engineers Ltd.

Waithaka was also found guilty of abusing his office.

The court has scheduled the matter for March 20, 2025, when mitigation and sentencing will take place.
