🔶 Al-Luʾlu al-Athariyyah | Atharī Pearls #3 — Who is the saved sect?!🔶

On the authority of Thawbān رضي الله عنه, he said: Rasūl Allāh ﷺ said:
"There will not cease to be a group from my ʾUmmah manifesting (and being upon) the truth, they will not be harmed by those who forsake them, until the command of Allāh عزوجل comes and they are upon that." Reported by Muslim, 1920.

al-Imām Aḥmed رحمه الله said:
"If they are not the Ahl al-Ḥadīth, then I do not know who they are!"
— 'Sharf ʾAṣḥāb al-Ḥadīth', pg. 61, and al-Ḥākim 'Maʿrifah ʿUlūm al-Ḥadīth', pg. 3.

al-ʾImām ʿAlī Ibn Jaʿfar al-Madīnī رحمه الله said:
"They are the Aṣḥāb al-Ḥadīth."
— Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī, v. 4 pg. 485.

al-ʾImām al-ʿAllāmah al-ʾAlbānī رحمه الله commentating on this ḥadīth said:
"They are those who follow the methodology of the (pious) predecessors as we mention this, always and ever. The intent by "Ahl al-Ḥadīth" is not a person, nor two or three, but verily it's everyone who has the diligence specifically by the narrating of al-Ḥadīth of al-Nabī ﷺ, and having ʾImān in everything he has come with عليه الصلاة والسلام without - as we mentioned before - taʾwīl (wrong interpretation) nor taʿṭīl (negating) and without preceeding opinions upon al-Ḥadīth. If the ḥadīth is regards to the attributes (of Allāh عزوجل) then without taʾwīl and taʿṭīl, and if it is ḥadīth in the rulings then they are to be applied by one's actions by it without preceeding opinions as it comes in that authentic ḥadīth that was narrated by the companions of the Sunan[¹] on the authority of ʿAlī رضي الله عنه, he said: "If the Dīn was by opinions, wiping the bottom of our socks would be more adequate than wiping the top." He said, "However, I saw al-Nabī ﷺ wipe above the (two) socks." End quote.

al-ʿAllāmah Muḥammad ʾAmān al-Jāmī رحمه الله said commentating on this ḥadīth:
"... And this is why al-ʾImām Aḥmed said this upon being questioned about al-Firqah al-Nājiyah (the saved sect) 'if the saved sect are not the Ahl al-Ḥadīth, then I don't know who they are.' Because the people of ḥadīth are the people of Rasūl Allāh ﷺ! And his followers! And his people! Rightly deserved for this attribution, because they are the ones who have come with the rightful and true meaning of it. They act upon that, call towards that and are patient upon adherence to the Sunnah! Specifically when the fitan (trials) have become many, and innovations have spread, and they have become (the people of ḥadīth) for the people of innovations something to attack and ramble about, and the people of ḥadīth are oppressed on the earth! However, they hold firm and are patient! Upon the Sunnah! And acting upon the Sunnah! And they mock those from them! And they mock their clothing! They mock their beards! They mock their adherence! They mock their abidance! However they move on. So it is said: 'The clouds are not harmed by the barking of the dogs.' They are the people of Allāh عزوجل, the people of Rasūl Allāh ﷺ."

[¹] The companions of the Sunan are four: al-Tirmidhī, ʾAbū Dāwūd, al-Nasāʾī and Ibn Mājah,

🔸️Al-Luʾluʾ al-Atharīyyah | Atharī Pearls #2 — Those who insult the Noble Companion, Abū Hurayrah

An example of What Happens to those who attack and insult the Sunnah and the Companions, May Allāh be pleased with them all. The Following story was also relayed by Shaykh al-Naḥwī Abū Bilāl al-Ḥadramī حفظه الله ورعاه here:
https://t.me/abubilalhami/11847

Shaykh Muḥammad Ḍiyāʾ al-Raḥmān al-Aʿẓamī رحمه الله narrated:

"I was in my office at the Muslim World League in Makkah, and at the time, I was the head of confronting Christianisation and harmful Madhhabs. Therefore, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm Ḥammādah al-Miṣrī visited me and he was the supervisor of the memorisation of the Qurʾān al-Karīm at the Muslim World League, and he knew that I had written in defence of Abū Hurayrah, the noble companion, may Allāh be pleased with him, in my master's thesis which was in the year 1396H or 1397H.

Therefore, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm told me about a strange incident that happened with him, which is that when he was in Egypt (during the final stages of Abū Rayyah Maḥmūd's life), he heard about his (Abū Rayyah's) insulting and attack on the Sunnah generally, and Abū Hurayrah, may Allāh be pleased with him, specifically, so he wanted to see this man (Abū Rayyah).[¹] So, he went to his house, but his sons stopped him from visiting him, using the excuse of his illness and his unwillingness to meet anyone. However, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm was adamant on seeing him, so they unhappily let him enter the room in which Abū Rayyah, their father, was. So when he entered upon him, he saw an unpleasant and dreadful sight. He saw that the face of Abū Rayyah was black like charcoal, his eyes staring, and signs of fear and horror apparently on his appearance, while he was shouting in a loud voice: Hā Hā Hā Abū Hurayrah.

Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm said: He was staring at the wall infront of him, which was in the room, as if, and Allāh knows best, he was being shown Abū Hurayrah on that wall, whilst he was angry and enraged at him.

The Shaykh said: When I saw that scene, I quickly left and I was unable to stay with him except for a couple of seconds, and I said to myself, "He (Abū Rayyah) was adamant on insulting and attacking the Sunnah of Abū al-Qāsim ﷺ and his noble companions, in the life of this dunyā, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgraceful and greater, if they only knew."

Therefore, Shaykh ʿAbd al-Ḥakīm رحمه الله asked me to write this story and inform it. The virtous brother, Abū ʿUbayd Allāh Kamāl heard it from me and I allowed him to narrate it from me. And I ask Allāh عز وجل to grant us success so we can follow the Sunnah and glorify the Ḥadīth of Rasūl Allāh ﷺ, and to love Abū Hurayrah and all the noble companions, may Allāh be pleased with them all.

[¹] Perhaps this was to discuss about some issues which he (Abū Rayyah) brought in his book, "Aḍwāʾ ʿAlā al-Sunnah al-Nabawīyyah", and "Shaykh al-Muḍīrah (Abū Hurayrah)".
And the intent of "al-Muḍīrah" is: it was a dish which was known in al-Shām, which was made from meat with milk. And his intent by this title was to demean and humiliate this sublime companion, the narrator of Islām (Abū Hurayrah). So may Allāh deal with him (Abū Rayyah) the way he deserves.

🔸️Al-Luʾluʾ al-Atharīyyah | Atharī Pearls #1 — The Noble Companion, Abū Hurayrah

Al-Suyūṭī mentioned in his 1,000 line of poetry (ألفية السيوطي) line 661 and 662:

"والمكثرون في رواية الأثـر:
And the Mukthirūn[¹] in narrating narrations:
أبو هريرة يليـه ابن عمـر
ʾAbū Hurayrah[²] following him Ibn ʿUmar
And ʾAnas and al-Ḥabr[³] (Ibn ʿAbbās) like al-Khudrī,
And Jābir and the Wife of al-Nabī (ʿĀʾishah)."

[¹] The 'Mukthirūn' are those who narrated more than a thousand aḥādīth.

[²] The scholars differed in the name of ʾAbū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه, to the point some of them have mentioned over 60 positions/names. The Khilāf comes down to three:
- ʿAbd al-Raḥmān bin Ṣakhr, which is the opinion of al-Nawawī رحمه الله.
- ʿAbd Allāh bin ʿAmr, which is the choice of al-ʾImām al-Bukhārī رحمه الله and al-ʿAllāmah Ādam al-ʾĪthīyūbī رحمه الله.
- ʾAbū Hurayrah, and this is the opinion of al-ʿAllāmah al-ʾImām al-Wādiʿī رحمه الله.

And the last seems apparent to be the most authentic, as the names mentioned of ʾAbū Hurayrah all return to chains of narrations being authentic and nothing has come ṣaḥīḥ nor ṣarīḥ in this aspect.

Al-ʾImām al-Shāfiʿī رحمه الله said: "ʾAbū Hurayrah is Aḥfaẓ from those who narrated in his time." — al-Risālah, pg. 281, Ibn ʿAsākir, v.47 pg. 483 and Siyar ʾAʿalām al-Nubalāʾ, v.2, pg. 432.

Al-ʾImām al-Bukhārī رحمه الله said: "It was narrated from him (ʾAbū Hurayrah) around eight hundred from the people of knowledge and he was Aḥfaẓ in narrating al-ḥadīth in his time."— Tahdhīb al-Tahdhīb, v. 12, pg. 265 and a-Bidāyah wa al-Nihāyah, v. 8 pg. 103.

And ʾAbū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه was the Ḥāfiẓ of the companions, he narrated over 5,000 aḥādīth, and none reached his level.

Al-Shaykh al-Muḥaddīth ʾAbū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān Jumʿān Laḥmar حفظه الله ورعاه always mentions the virtues of this noble companion, ʾAbū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه. From those virtues he mentioned is when he, ʾAbū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه, would come to the Sūq the people would say "The leader has come! The leader has come!"

Al-Shaykh ʾAbū al-ʿAbbās ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʿUlayyān حفظه الله ورعاه mentioned that there was a well known story that spread. There was a man who spoke ill of ʾAbū Hurayrah رضي الله عنه, so he said "ʾAbū Hurayrah is weak in ḥadīth and he is not a Faqīh." It was narrated that a snake had fell from the roof and it did not go towards anyone but this man! The people saw this and knew this was a punishment coming towards him from Allāh عزوجل, so they said to him, "Repent! Repent!" He retracted from his statement and the snake had left.
