Richard Hammond makes painful Stormzy gaffe as The Grand Tour trio try to get down with the kids

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May try to be down with the kids in an upcoming episode of The Grand Tour, as they are tasked with trying to make hatchbacks appeal to young people.

The hosts take their hatchbacks to the rallycross track and let them rip in the next episode, called The Youth Vote.

So far, so Grand Tour. But things get harder for these presenters of a certain age when they’re told to stop messing about on the track and make the hatchbacks appeal to young people.

Jeremy has to start bigging up the VW Polo GTI, with Hammond getting the Ford Fiesta ST and May a Toyota Yaris GRMN.

To accomplish their mission, the trio get hip stickers and slogans and use social media to take on a series of challenges, with the aim of securing support from milennials.

The tasks involve fake punctures, a juicing diaster which is giving us some pretty grim images in our minds right now, and Hammond somehow managing to spell Stormzy wrong.

Elsewhere Richard and James are at the Eboladrome seeing how two iconic motors from the 80s – the Lamborghini Countach and the Ferrari Testarocca – stack up against each other.

James will be taking a bit of a break from his co-hosts to strike out on own in new travel show Our Man In…Japan.

It will serve as the first of a collection from the Amazon Prime team with Clarkson and Hammond also going on solo adventures.

We will follow James around the country as he explores the numerous elements that make the country so unique, heading from North to South over the course of the series as he discovers what drives their whole culture and what their approach to life can teach the rest of us.

‘James can’t speak the language, he is clueless about Japanese etiquette, but at least he knows there’s a small tree called a banzai…’ the show synopsis teases.
