Pre-Match Press Conference: Bayern Munich vs Chelsea - 8/8 UCL Ro16 leg 2 (3-0)
Lampard:
- Kante and Loftus-Cheek are fit to start. Pulisic is out for six weeks. Azpilicueta is out for three weeks. And Pedro has a six week injury.
- Lampard on how to face Bayern in these circumstances: "I wouldn't say all guns blazing or keep it tight. We want to get our game right as a whole. When you play a team as good as Bayern Munich you have to play very well and we didn't play well enough [in the first leg]"
- Lampard on Willian's future: "I haven't got an answer because Willian remains out player, he was injured for the cup final and injured for tomorrow and he would have given everything to play. know Willian. As a club, we have done everything to explain to Willian."
- Lampard on Willian: "Our relationship is close. I don't want anyone to find a negative attitude [with him]. The club has acted very well." Adds, "I think he would leave a hole because he has performed well here for several seasons."
- Lampard on Willian: "When a player is out of contract, they have the freedom of playing where they want. A player of Willian would contribute to any team."
- Lampard adds he won't rush Pulisic back even though he might not be ready for the start of next season: "We will get him fit and ready, if he misses the first one or two games, then we can wait for a firing Christian like he was from restart."
- Lampard on using his 2012 win as inspiration: "If I try to use all my short stories from my career to the players, then they would get very bored but I want them to act, feel and show they can turn this game around. Then they can attempt to do something special."
Rudiger:
- Rudiger: "This is a different competition, we were disappointed after Arsenal. Yes, we lost the first leg but this is a situation where we have nothing to lose, no pressure and that can be good for us. We just need to go on the pitch and show some pride."
- Rudiger on defensive issues: "I think it is normal people will criticise us because we concede too many goals, I think this is something after this game that we need to analyse, address and improve."
- Rudiger on Willian: "He is his own man and I don't know the situation yet but if he goes then it will be a huge loss, in my opinion, especially after the restart, people saw he is very important in our team.
- Rudiger on Hudson-Odoi: "First of all, Callum is a young guy with loads of talent & in a game like this, not just because it is Bayern Munich and all those talks, but he wants these kinds of games. This is why you play football and he wants to prove a point, definitely"
- Rudiger says the squad are determined to 'show what we can do' after what happened in the first leg. He knows Bayern's strengths from his time in Germany and expects another difficult game.
