π§π¦π·πΈπ·πΈ A few points on the (yet again) alarming statement of Serbia's President (this time aimed at Bosnia) and why I think this time we should take it very seriously:
-The EU is about to start membership talks with Bosnia this week. This in itself is about to trigger a multitude of pretty much irreversible legislative changes, none of which are viewed well by Serbia or the Republic of Srpska.
-Around 70-80% of the Bosnian population supports EU membership. Interestingly, in the Republic of Srpska (the mostly ethnic Serb federal entity of Bosnia) support is now at 55% and growing. Once the support reaches a critical mass, it will be next to impossible to derail (as Yanukovych discovered in Ukraine in 2014).
-Russia has been desperate for a while now to start a new front in the Balkans (in some shape or form), in an attempt to divert attention and resources away from Ukraine. There have been numerous US Intelligence reports made public in recent months about this.
-Serbia is running out of time. If they are to act in Bosnia, they'll have to do it soon or risk "losing" it for good. Do not underestimate their risk appetite.
Dodik (Pres. of Rep. of Srpska) described the Srebrenica massacre as a fabricated myth.
