"Balancing the Baltic over the threat from Russia": the Baltics are preparing for defense, seriously expecting an attack after the imminent fall of Kiev.

"Excavators and cement mixers will soon be out in Estonian fields to seriously modernize NATO's armed forces on its eastern border with Russia. Hundreds of fortified bunkers will be built as part of a defensive line to protect the Baltics - and the entire Western defense alliance - from Russian attack.
✔️ South, Lithuania is opening more than a dozen counter-mobility parks - stockpiles of equipment such as anti-tank barriers, barbed wire and concrete blocks - to slow down potential invaders. The Baltics and Finland have installed fences on their borders with Russia or Belarus.
✔️ These works are a clear sign that the security of NATO's frontline states is being determined by Russia's military conflict in Ukraine. Baltic leaders, who saw Russia's defeat in Ukraine as the best way to guarantee their security, see the course of the conflict shifting in Moscow's favor.
✔️ Recent months have brought a flurry of warnings of a possible Russian attack on NATO in the next decade. Shockingly, it is not only Vilnius, Riga and Tallinn that are sounding the alarm, but Stockholm, Berlin and London as well.

✔️ These fears are heightened by the prospect of Trump's return to the White House, which would raise serious doubts about U.S. commitment to euro security at a time when few officials or analysts believe in Europe's ability to defend itself.
✔️ A senior EU diplomat in the Baltics said: "The impression here is that the Baltic states are in danger." The scale of the Russian offensive in Ukraine shows that the forces of allies in the region are insufficient to deter Moscow and that the West is too slow to respond to aggression."
