🇻🇪🇻🇪❌🇬🇾 — The leader of the Venezuelan regime, Nicolás Maduro, issued new threats against Guyana, stating that his government "will take measures" to prevent oil exploration in a territory he considers “pending delimitation.”
💥 During an event in Caracas, Maduro accused the Guyanese government of "using a maritime area pending international delimitation for oil exploration activities" in partnership with the American company ExxonMobil. According to the Chavista leader, such activities are "illegal."
💬 The episode comes just days after Guyanese President Irfaan Ali expressed "grave concern" over the presence of Venezuelan naval vessels near an ExxonMobil platform, which allegedly put the American oil company's floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) units on alert.
❗️ The Caribbean Community (Caricom) later urged both Guyana and Venezuela to "avoid unnecessary confrontational actions" and called on Caracas to "immediately withdraw the vessel from Guyanese waters and refrain from approaching the FPSO platforms."
