Iranian, Indian FMs meet in Oman
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi who is in Muscat to attend the Eighth Indian Ocean Rim Association (
#IORA) Conference, met with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, India’s Minister of External Affairs.
Expressing his pleasure at participating in the conference, which is co-hosted by India and Oman, Araghchi voiced hope that the gathering would successfully achieve its objectives in enhancing partnership and cooperation among Indian Ocean Rim countries.
He emphasized Iran’s neighborhood policy and reiterated Tehran’s commitment to strengthening comprehensive relations with regional nations, particularly those in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean regions.
He stated that Iran maintains strong and enduring ties with regional countries and is determined to further expand them.
Highlighting the mutual commitment of Iran and India to deepening bilateral relations based on shared interests, Araghchi referred to the successful convening of the nineteenth round of Iran-India Political Consultations in New Delhi and underscored the necessity of maintaining close dialogue and coordination between the two countries.
The Indian Foreign Minister, in turn, expressed appreciation for Araghchi’s participation and active engagement in the Indian Ocean Rim Conference in Muscat. He voiced optimism that the conference would serve as a platform to strengthen regional partnerships and further enhance bilateral ties between New Delhi and Tehran.
The two foreign ministers also reviewed various aspects of Iran-India relations, including political, cultural, economic, and trade cooperation. They exchanged views on regional and international developments, with a particular focus on the situation in Afghanistan.
