🎥 "If a protest is banned for something you stand for, then you should be there to protest."

MEE’s Maya-Nora spoke with protesters in Amsterdam who gathered in the Dutch capital, despite attempts to ban pro-Palestine demonstrations.

"It may be scary, but I think we’re more afraid of what will happen if we don’t show up," another protester added.

"Being here is, in itself, a protest against the banning of protests," said one Dutch-Moroccan demonstrator.

This comes amid rising tensions in the Netherlands following incidents involving Maccabi Tel Aviv hooligans, who caused trouble in various parts of the Dutch capital, Amsterdam by engaging in vandalism, violence, and chanting racist, anti-Arab slogans before and after their UEFA Europa League match against Ajax earlier in November.

The emergency law, which includes the demonstration ban has been lifted.

🎥"Say the word ‘genocide’. The UN has called it a genocide. The ICJ has called it a genocide."
Activists in the Netherlands have interrupted the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in protest of the organisation including two Israeli-funded films in this year's Palestine pathway programme.
Last year, over 20 filmmakers withdrew from the festival due to its condemnation of liberatory Palestinian speech and its refusal to take a stand against Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza.

📰 Iran has "categorically" denied that its officials have met with tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei was reported by news agency IRNA as expressing "surprise at the coverage of the American media in this regard" after a report in the New York Times.

The NYT said on Friday that Musk - a close ally of newly elected President Donald Trump - met earlier this week with Iran's ambassador to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, in a meeting that anonymous sources described as "positive".

According to the NYT, Iravani asked Musk to obtain a sanctions waiver from the US Treasury Department to bring his businesses to Tehran.

Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung said of the meeting: “We do not comment on reports of private meetings that did or did not occur.”

“Over the past year, a remarkable surge of solidarity for Palestine has swept across Britain, with millions of people flooding the streets in scores of protests. This collective outcry against Israeli atrocities has drawn attention worldwide, but a critical question lingers: has it made a difference?
At first glance, the ongoing Israeli assault on Gaza, now in its second year, suggests otherwise.

From this perspective, one might be tempted to dismiss the protests as futile background noise. Yet, such a conclusion fails to account for their role in undermining the very levers that enable genocide, including political will, media representation, public opinion and economic systems”

🎥 Fadi al-Wahidi’s mother has announced she will be going on hunger strike despite having cancer. She said she will refuse her treatment as well as food and water until her son is allowed to travel abroad for medical care.

In October, journalist Fadi al-Wahidi was shot in the neck by Israeli forces while covering the ground invasion of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, despite wearing protective gear identifying him as a member of the press.

Despite numerous international appeals, including from three media freedom organisations, Israeli authorities have refused to allow al-Wahidi to leave Gaza for treatment.

On Thursday, Human Rights Watch released a new report stating that Israel's repeated evacuation orders in Gaza amount to the "war crime of forcible transfer" and to "ethnic cleansing" in parts of the Palestinian territory.

The report accuses Israel of intentionally causing the mass and forced displacement of the majority of Gaza's civilian population since October 2023, describing this as a "war crime".

For over 13 months, Israeli authorities have maintained a tight blockade on the strip, allowing less than the daily minimum requirement of food, water, electricity, and medicine.

🎥Nadia Hardman, a refugee and migrant rights researcher at Human Rights Watch, spoke to Middle East Eye, outlining details of a new report by HRW that says Israel is forcibly displacing the population and committing “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza.

The report accuses Israel of intentionally causing the mass and forced displacement of the majority of the civilian population of Gaza since October 2023, which it describes as a "war crime".

Based on interviews with 39 displaced Palestinians, the report says Israel's claims to be lawfully displacing civilians are false and that they have not been secure when being forced to leave or after arriving at the designated safe zones.

Israeli forces have killed more than 43,700 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023, including over 17,000 children and nearly 12,000 women, according to the health ministry and local officials.
