A Hull midwife and mum, who had served as a frontline Army nurse, died just 12 days after she was diagnosed with cancer.

Billie-Joe Graham was just 49 when she was told she had stomach cancer. The disease had already spread to her liver, which meant her condition was terminal.

The tireless and dedicated midwife continued to work right up until her passing and she died just two days before she was due to start treatment for her cancer.

Former longtime CEO of Food Lion, Tom Smith, has died, according to friends of Smith.

Smith worked for the grocery store chain, which was started in Salisbury, N.C. in 1957, for decades. Ronnie Smith, son of Food Lion co-founder Wilson Smith, confirms that Tom Smith (no relation) passed away Friday after a brief illness.

The 24-year-old first noticed something was wrong in September when she coughed up a blood clot while in hospital as part of her job.

She had an intermittent night-time cough but no other symptoms, however a scan revealed a shadow on her lung.

Four weeks later, Meadhbh was told she had stage 4 combined small cell lung cancer - an extremely aggressive and rare form of cancer, not typically seen in a young, non-smoker in good health.

Meadhbh, who worked in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, was given chemotherapy but the cancer had spread to bones and lymph nodes.

Social media influencer and new mom Jackie Miller James is currently fighting for her life. One week before the 35-year-old beauty influencer was due to give birth, she suffered from a brain aneurysm that ruptured, which led to severe bleeding. Twelve days after this incident, Jackie remains in a medically induced coma and has undergone five separate brain procedures. Jackie is expected to remain in the ICU for weeks and will continue to be hospitalized for months. The baby girl remained in the NICU after 12 days due to the traumatic events of her birth.

Actor-screenwriter Nitesh Pandey, 52, was found dead inside a hotel room in Igatpuri early Wednesday, with preliminary postmortem report indicating that he died of heart attack, police said.

Actor-screenwriter Nitesh Pandey had ordered food and asked that it be delivered to his room on Tuesday night. After he failed to open the door, hotel staff entered the room and found his body, police said.

According to a friend of the family who asked not to be named, Mr Dokpesi fell off a treadmill in his Abuja home on Monday morning. The accident led to his death.

The deceased, 71, had suffered a stroke in February but was believed to be recuperating.

When she got home from work, she told her husband she needed to go to the hospital. Although she didn't recall hitting her head, “I could hear a rushing sound in my ear and my vision was a little bit off," she says. "As a nurse, I knew what those signs were.” She asked her husband to take her to the emergency room.

A CT scan at the ER near her home in Livingston, Texas, confirmed her fear: She had a brain bleed.

After another CT Scan, she was flown via Life Flight to Houston’s Memorial Hermann Hospital. There she was diagnosed not only with a brain bleed — but also acute promyelocytic leukemia.

"It was quite a big shock," Donna Ford tells PEOPLE, after a fall in her hallway revealed she had a brain bleed as well as leukemia
