These amazing red Romano-Egyptian socks were excavated at ancient Oxyrhynchus, a Greek colony on the Nile in central Egypt.
They were made around the 4th to 5th century AD, in the technique nålbindning, with a divided toe, designed to be worn with sandals. 250-420 AD
