In school
I am told to speak mind, but when I do, I am ordered to watch my tongue. The embaress me, ridicule me, and yet I am to blame because I provoked them with my existence.
Is that what I must learn?
I am told to think outside the box but that's only possible if I'm bounded by their fences. They control our minds, our sense of individuality.
Is this the cost of intelligence?
I am a writer
I breath my words, I get high of my poetry, and drunk over my thoughts, but it's wrong, I must focus on maths, chemistry, because my dreams don't matter if it doesn't change the world.
Is that diversity?
We are told from a young age that freedom is a privilege that we all experience, no matter how different, but the society we live in has made freedom a fairytale, standing out is considered a crime, and having a mind of your own a sin.
You either fit into their category, or you're removed from the puzzle.
They speak of personal characteristics when they don't allow us to develop personalities of our own, we have to dress like this, and talk like that, where is our sense of pride, or is it that we should find our self confidence in approval.
Our minds are told to think freely but we are harassed for doing so, bullied, mocked, and shamed, and what they say is kids will be kids.
Do they ask why?
How?
No. It's a simple answer for a complex question, no analysis needed, just meerie words, we have to start changing, evolving, growing in our own mindsets, learning to think for ourselves and knowimg how to survive on our own.
When the world spins, we spin with it, we adjust, just like how it should be with life.
