Kuban intends to increase the number of international students.Attracting foreign citizens from North Africa and the Middle East to study in secondary and higher educational institutions of the Krasnodar Territory seems promising from the point of view of investments in education and the economy of the region.
Ilya Shakalov, Director General of the Regional Development Fund, told TASS about this.
"One foreign student is a small micro-investment. He brings in about 200 thousand rubles a year under the paid training program or $2 thousand, that is, in five years it will bring to the budget 1 million rubles or $ 10 thousand, respectively, depending on the university and specialty. If each university invites a thousand people, then the economic effect is comparable to a large industrial investment project like a factory or a factory. Attracting foreign students is the most promising investment and integration investment in the economy, especially within the framework of the sanctions policy," said Shakalov.
Speaking of which countries young people want to study in the Russian Federation, the CEO of the foundation singled out the countries of North Africa and the Middle East. These include Egypt, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkey. According to the CEO of the foundation, the task of the authorities and universities is to create competitive conditions with European educational institutions in order to interest foreigners to study in the south of Russia. "In this regard, Sirius University can be called the top one. There are excellent laboratories here, there is a patent office, students receive a good scholarship, participate in scientific and technical developments," he noted.
