The Curse of the Squidgy Teapot
by @.beMinjeong
Whilst investigating the death of a local lawyer, a splendid navigator called Kael Bloggs uncovers a legend about a supernaturally-cursed, squidgy teapot circulating throughout Devon. As soon as anyone uses the teapot, he or she has exactly 33 days left to live. The doomed few appear to be ordinary people during day to day life, but when photographed, they look grey. A marked person feels like a creepy aardvark to touch.
Kael gets hold of the teapot, refusing to believe the superstition. A collage of images flash into his mind: a spiky gerbil balancing on an ample lawyer, an old newspaper headline about a magic accident, a hooded hamster ranting about feet and a drinking well located in a grand place. When Kael notices his spots have aardvark-like properties, he realises that the curse of the squidgy teapot is true and calls in his father, a fishmonger called John Smart, to help.
John examines the teapot and willingly submits himself to the curse. He finds that the same visions flash before his eyes. He finds the spiky gerbil balancing on an ample lawyer particularly chilling. He joins the queue for a supernatural death.
Kael and John pursue a quest to uncover the meaning of the visions, starting with a search for the hooded hamster. Will they be able to stop the curse before their time is up?
