Are we having fun yet?

As I watch in horror the Monster eating American democracy and human freedom, and see it coming for all of us, I see a dark age coming. I find peace in watching documentaries about the lives of poverty stricken people who spent the 20th Century under the boot of the worst tyrannies, from Kazakhstan to Burma to Cambodia, and those who live in deprivation at the edge of existence in places so remote and wild where "civilization" never came (which I won't name because "racism"). Because these people give me hope in the eternal resilience and eternal beauty of humanity, no matter what the circumstances.

Q had better be right. I'm going to love it if he is. But I'm not counting on it. Because, in all honesty, we are at the end of an era. Freedom is the greatest treasure of all, it requires eternal vigilance, a religious devotion and a fanatical defence, for ever. But the Free People lost sight of that in the privileges of their prosperity and security. So here we are.

Things can still be salvaged. But not without millions living George Washington and Thomas Jefferson and Winston Churchill.

And if it doesn't happen, the people I mentioned in the first paragraph will be unaffected and life will go on.
