They're more like Guidelines anyways

First and foremost, the goal of this essay contest (which honestly isn't really a contest, more like a friendly competition) is to have fun with it. There's (currently) no prizes for "winning" but a sense of accomplishment. We have too few people actively engaging and proposing new anarchist ideas, and thus this contest was born.

Secondly, we're looking to fully flesh out an idea within the themes. While Poetry and Visual Media are valid expressions of new ideas within anarchism, we are specifically seeking for essays. We allow Fiction in this contest, but prose is more reliable at getting a specific idea across to readers without being overtly obtuse and heavy handed with metaphors. Specifically, since we are looking to expand upon ideas, a minimum of 500 words per essay is requested.

Thirdly, the first theme in the contest will be selected by the host, merely to get things going, but every theme after that (typically revolving around a word or phase associated with anarchism) shall be voted upon. The vote will last approximately 48 hours (mostly depending on how busy I get) and at the end of the 48 hours, the vote that has more than 50% + 1 of the votes shall win. In the event that no theme passes this threshold, the lowest voted option will be removed and another vote that lasts 24 hours shall be held. This will be repeated until the threshold is reached.

After the Theme is decided, there will be a period of 2 weeks (may be extended or shortened depending on user request) in which submissions for that theme will be accepted. Submissions will be accepted in the comments section of the theme, and each submission will be reposted and categorized on the main channel with the title and author of the submission. During this two week period, individuals are allowed to revise their essays as many times as they want, but please keep revisions to a minimum to help keep the channel organized.

At the end of the submission period, a vote will be held covering a period of 4 days (approximately 96 hours). This is to give users a reasonable amount of time to read submissions and make their decisions. At the end of the 4 day period, the vote will close and the essay that "wins" will be features on the main United Anarchist channel.

Finally, and again, this contest is just to get creative juices flowing and help people craft more robust arguments for their positions, we will not tolerate any rudeness towards other users and submitters. Any action the goes against the core desire of this contest will be banned from further posting, and thus, further submissions.
