Kryptonian Warlock:
is this the same technology used by hashgraph?
Guik0 🍓SN:
not at all, elastos use a system of main-chain sidechains design for trust and a p2p network for computing, you have an agnostic OS as interface for non cryptos users (elastOS)
Kryptonian Warlock:
What the heck is that it sounds like contradiction main chain also side chain please explain in simple way
Guik0 🍓SN:
elastos is not a ledger/blockchain solution, it use some part of it (for trust). It's an internet solution
Guik0 🍓SN:
sidechains are dependant of mainchain, you can create any sidechains and profit from mainchain security
Guik0 🍓SN:
the mainchain is ELA mainchain and is secured by BTC hashpower (merged-mining), and it's just about the PoW side
Guik0 🍓SN:
so every sidechains could be designed for specifics needs but also profit from BTC security or any tech advantages too (like ETH sidechain we have), the ELA token is the center piece of all.

David Ramskill.ELA:
I agree totally, but collectively where can we add value to the ecosystem? And in my opinion we could increase the community and participation
David Ramskill.ELA:
In terms of numbers
Hunter:
Dapps built on top of Elastos should build their own community, the current community can jumpstart it but then needs people from the outside, it doesn't mean community members of this dapps are from crypto. Atleast people who likes the dapp they're using and willing to join that community, from there bridge introduce the Elastos community.
Hunter:
Maybe some of these people are willing to try other dapps of Elastos or become enthusiastic and join the Elastos community and promote it
Guik0 🍓SN:
yes I would like to see content creators since they will bring value and public on the same time, and contents have differents forms (videos, art, streaming,vlogs,music...) They need to see why, as creators, they will profit from this.

We currently have 12 people working directly with Tuum. Front end and back end developers, UI/UX designers
TheTunaInTheBrine🇺🇸:
Thats great. I did not know that.
ELASTOS INSIGHTS:
Being user friendly is the key to mass adoption..

Thanks for your efforts. It's probably my favorite video about Elastos. I would love to see more of these. It was very professional and well organized. A great way to find new believers🍀🥇
B Donnie:
Yes we have a solid crew right now and everyone is very passionate about their work. Currently Kiran is leading technical development of all our projects and actively working on Hive, Ricardo is working on both DID and Hive SDK, Diego is working on the identity application, Waqas on verifiable credentials and a new project we kicked off in Q4, Chad is working on Hyper front end and various apps for Trinity Tech, Martin is design lead on all projects at Tuum and for other teams at Elastos, Faizan is dedicated to UI/UX for our new product going to alpha in Q1, Yael is doing design for Hyper, I'm WEF, cross team management and market development, then we also have Peter, Artur, and Tina at Hyper working on Hyper Im and elastOS desktop. So we have a lot going on 😅
B Donnie:
Thanks for the feedback Nick. We plan to polish this up and try for several more of these as the opportunities are available.

They run on L1 but require some off-chain computation to describe the state transition, it bears some resemblance to how ETH2 contracts will work

In short, we maintain on-chain light clients in smart contract on both chains to verify tx on the counter party chain. We use lock tx proof to mint token on the counter party chain and burn proof to unlock it.

governance in crypto is pretty "hard" to say the least. people with knowledge put up proposals, people with and without knowledge vote for those proposals. how many people in this system actually know if the proposal is good or bad? how many people understand the code behind it? We then come down to trusting the proposal guys, that they have/had good intentions, without verifying it ourselves (majority). Its coming from a financial and or engineering standpoint - why would the barber or the doctor next door vote on this proposal with now knowledge about the state? my view of course
Jani:
There is one good course I recommend:
Paul:
And what’s that
Wang [no DM] Kevin:
payments is part of it obviously, and afaik they’re integrating with trading desks so that users don’t have to hold crypto, but just use crypto as payment rails. the real potential i think is really to provide incentives for early supporters with a stake of the platform / creator to help evangelize and bring in more fans in exchange for future value generated - essentially the job of the traditional agencies. But yes it’s still early and we’ll see how it goes.
Wang [no DM] Kevin:
governance is hard, in particular for a layer 1 protocol, where changes have broad implications with impact to the entire ecosystem. I don’t think anyone has figured this out yet, and there are many experimentations. Sadly most are still quite centralized, given the concentration of tokens, even voting is used as a means. We’ll start with small steps on this next year but will be more cautious and experimental instead of “designing” a perfect system.

Chris S:
The Chainlink news sounds great but can anyone explain how will this work? How are Theta tokens or TFuel used in this case? Thanks
Wes Levitt:
It requires an enterprise/platform to be using Theta Network (and therefore TFUEL) for video delivery, since it's the onchain data from Theta blockchain that is used to validate whether views and relaying are legitimate.
Trajan:
Wow that's big. And advertisers will almost force platforms to use Theta or buy ads on a platform that does. Does that sound right?
Places (i will never ask for private keys or passphrases!!) Trading:
These names are all hypothetical. Obviously
Places (i will never ask for private keys or passphrases!!) Trading:
I believe it will help. Let say Ford wants to show ads of its new car online. It wants to show the ads on the biggest car channels on either YouTube or Twitch. YouTube can prove their channels are ranked according to actual human viewers (by using the Theta Network), while Twitch cannot. Which one will Ford choose to spend their adverstising campaign money on?
Places (i will never ask for private keys or passphrases!!) Trading:
But being able to validate a channels reputation and viewers will be huge (and already sort of is)

Emmanᕫel - Ultra io:
wlevitt can you present yourself, Theta and the role you have in this company?
Wes Levitt:
Theta Network is a decentralized video delivery protocol and blockchain that allows viewers to share video they watch peer-to-peer, earning token rewards for contributing their excess bandwidth to the network. As a user, you can effectively earn tokens just for watching the content you love. For video platforms, you can save more than half of your content delivery (CDN) costs by integrating Theta video delivery, and gain a more engaged, loyal userbase by offering token rewards.

At Theta Labs I serve as Head of Strategy, where I focus on business operations, Theta community relations, and marketing since joining Theta in late 2017. Prior to working at Theta Labs, I worked in real estate finance for a mortgage REIT and a private equity firm. I had followed/invested in crypto for quite a while personally, but began looking at the space full-time after I took a blockchain course from Dawn Song (now founder of Oasis Labs) while I was studying at Berkeley.

Our Cosmos Stargate AMA with @cwgoes, @tessrrr, and @zakimanian will start at 12p ET today!

A reminder of a few rules we have in this group:

1. We do not discuss token price or token sales.
2. We do not "shill" projects.
3. We do not discuss projects in a blatantly negative way.
4. We try to focus on discussing information or ideas that are not currently public or easily accessible.
5. We do not give away anything in our channel.

Outside of that, everyone is free to ask questions. 🙂

You can also add questions here: https://bit.ly/3hwZjuH

Menzel Clayton:
How many fees would a user pay to send a single cross chain transaction? Would you pay an initial fee on your current chain, then pay an IBC fee to get to your destination chain?
Goes Christopher:
At the moment, yes. Amortisation of fee payments and more user-friendly flows can be supported without changes to the core IBC protocol, but what makes sense will likely vary based on the use-case in question. See https://github.com/cosmos/ics/blob/master/ideation/fee-payment.md for some brainstorming.
Manian Zaki:
the core idea you can now launch a value carrying blockchain in a few hours over IBC.

Billy has this idea of Burner Chains. Short lived test chains but that have real value like ATOMs on them
Gavin | figment network:
Do you expect to see non-Cosmos-based chains adopting IBC? I recall that IBC was supposed to be an interchain standard with the aim of being more widely adopted.
Gavin | figment network:
So the idea here isn't that gov will be more effective or efficient, but that gov won't be necessary for this functionality?

@NervosNetwork GROUP
Sgalardi Rich:
Thanks for your time, Ben. How does the team prioritize building for crypto enthusiasts vs integrating with the legacy system? The latter strikes me as the real opportunity. One necessary step for that is a compliance layer, is there any active work being done on this front?
N D:
Yes
gat andy:
That’s really exciting actually, I saw a video on YouTube that said that the Eth VM can run on Nervos. This seems really significant. How can Ethereum devs take advantage of this? Does this mean the two chains will be able to communicate with each orher?
Ben [NO DM's]:
Hi Rich, great question.

Regarding the compliance layer, this is being actively worked on and would be implemented on a layer 2 deployment of Muta. You can already see the potential of this through our work with Huobi and deployment of their Huobi Chain (Which is based on Muta). Huobi Chain is aiming to bridge that gap of compliance and with anyone being able to deploy a layer 2 frame work on Nervos, people can then choose how to implement compliance on that layer 2 while leveraging the security and permissionless benefits of layer 1 CKB. With regards to priority, I wouldn't say we prioritize one over the other, although the implementation of various layer 2 compliance frameworks would most likely be done by 3rd parties and not the core team itself.
Sgalardi Rich:
Great to hear it’s something even being thought about, can’t say that’s common in the industry but a real differentiator in my mind. Appreciate your response and all the work you do for the community 🙏
Ben [NO DM's]:
Increasing liquidity and ease of access is a top priority for us and we are actively working on and in discussions with most, if not all top tier markets in this regard. This can be a long and complicated process however and unfortunately we cant release public info until they are confirmed.

Btw did some desearch into exchanges. Coinbase dont charge a listing fee. Binance - the projects I checked (Tezos, Cosmos, Algorand, etc.) paid 0. Kraken - not 100% sure, but I dont think they charge one either. So the whole argument against these exchanges (we better use the money for development) no longer holds. So the reason they are not listing us must be the lack of awareness, community and hype around the project, no?
Toma:
knwang Kevin, in your interview with Tom and Dragonfly you mentioned how critical the community is, how much you believe in it and so on. In Nov / Dec last year we had a chat on the Nervos talk forum and you said you would ramp up marketing efforts and so on. And last but not least Matt mentioned the success or failure of this project would be a community effort. Could you please let me know your thoughts about awareness, marketing, community, etc. and why - 100 mil usd and 9 months later - this group feels like a ghost town compared to others? Is it because you are failing at the above? Or it is not the right time yet? Or there is a lot going on in China we dont know about? I know a good project when I see one - I was an early investor in Chainlink, Zilliqa, Tezos, etc. and I still believe you guys are one of the best teams in the space and most promising coins. But I have rarely seen a project with such potential execute such poor marketing in terms of exchanges, awareness, community growth. No offence, but I feel like this type of opinions should also be shared. Would appreciate your thoughts.
Jok Post:
we dont know the details of that yet, bsn will go live on 10th of august. we will see ,)
Jok Post:
exchanges seem to get pickier. Kraken only added 3 coins in the last 8 months. Coinbase added 6. Gemini added 3. Binance just has to get paid. Still dont know why ada isn´t even on coinbase, but they release a "we will look into these assets" every view months with around 20 assets and add maybe 1 or 2 of them after a long period of time
luis:
not kevin, but i have some thoughts about your comments…
thinking of marketing and community in terms of “exchanges and awareness” makes me think that in your eyes the goal of a project should be to get listed by exchanges. perhaps there’s something to that thought process, more visibility means more potential users, more dev awareness, and perhaps even more conversation to liven the social channels. i think there’s some assumptions being made that things aren’t moving behind the scenes, though, i think matt’s gotten on here and told the group that we’re actively in discussion with “all the top exchanges” — this still stands.
i have a more holistic view on community and feel excited when i look at the grants being developed, the relationships being forged with the grant teams and other teams/communities (and other teams in the space i.e huobi chain, grin), and the exciting things that are being ideated and spec’ed out.
there’s little doubt in my mind that there will be a turning point when it comes to awareness. i know its not exciting to hear, “we’re in talks”, or “we can’t talk about x, y, and z yet”, or “coming soon”, but these aren’t empty words and if there’s on thing i know about the team/culture: talk is cheap. i do think there’s more that can be done specifically around not making this place, “feel like a ghost town” though, it’s something we've discussed internally and would welcome any thoughts specifically around stuff that would make this place more fun/engaging place to spend time in.

Quote from Mr. Su Yipeng: “According to software engineering principle, a project with limited resources tends to be successful because it’s more likely to motivate team and stimulate their creativity. A lot of project practice also proves this indeed."
The more I think, the more it appears right to me. If one stills thinks elastos tech is good, he must have the energy to talk about it. But what we need is to talk to outer world, but not just towards ppl who already know what elastos is.

Block one's communication regarding Voice and EOS in the last quarter has been poor relative to a few months prior when clear and direct statements were made on the matter; as such, many in the community may have become confused and frustrated. Block one needs to improve their communication to address this confusion.
