Walking down the road and seeing a Sikh wearing a poppy means far more to myself as an Englishman and a British person than many understand.
You see today, the Poppy has become even more than a memory to the lost souls so bravely sacrificed.
It has in modern terms, become a symbol to many who feel distanced from the Great War and its meaning but still have the same British brilliance in their hearts.
It has become a symbol to signify you support the unequalled green and pleasant lands of Great Britain who ever you are and however you are described.
Seeing a Sikh wear a Poppy like that gives me a warmth that I hope I can give back with patriotic focus and hard work and I hope that when I am long gone the strides we take today will, like the Poppy, live on eternally.
With any luck, our efforts like the Poppy has to us will take symbolic shape to the future generations that appreciate the stand we took today. #thinkforyourself
