✨ New Theme on Direct

Instagram is working on a new 🖼 theme inspired by the iconic music video — «You Gonna Give You Up» by Rick Astley ❤‍🔥

ℹ More than likely, this theme may already be available for some users

🖼 Instagram is working on a redesign of the chat theme picker in Direct

Currently, theme picker sheet looks like a list of theme titles with their tiny round thumbnails

💫 New theme picker design is more accentuated on the theme thumbnail (looks like an entire movie poster). The theme thumbnails have a form of large cards with a small caption of the theme title

🤷‍♂️ The only thing is that the current thumbnails were designed for a small round image, which makes some cards look a bit blurry in the new design

📩 Request mention for Stories

Instagram is 🧑‍💻 working on a feature that will allow users to send a request to add your mention to an already published Story

🤔 Currently, nothing happens after sending the request, most likely, the user will receive a request to add your mention in the Direct

☝One condition for sending a request is that you should be following the person to whom you are sending the request for a mention

🧑‍🎨 Instagram is working on the redesign of the Stickers appearance on the Stories Stickers Gallery

As opposed to placing the Stickers in a fixed grid, the new design has them in a bunch and in a slightly chaotic way

The stickers on the gallery have been redrawn, they are smaller, more rounded, with a gradient fill and a new font with lowercase letters

☝️However, when you add a sticker, not all of them have a new design yet, from what we have:

• By default, stickers are smaller
• All styles have more rounded corners
• Icons in stickers with a fill have been swapped for outline
• The most noticeable changes are in the first three styles, they have a new font with lowercase letters
• The main style has black text by default

ℹ️ About the Font: Both variants use the Instagram Branded Font

On the new design, it's Instagram Sans Regular and in the current version, it's Instagram Sans Condensed Regular.
The current one is more flattened, the new one is wider, you can clearly differentiate them by the @ symbol

🔔 Notify Sticker in Stories

Instagram is 🧑‍💻 working on a new sticker for Stories called «🔔 NOTIFY»

🤳 Content creators will be able to use this sticker in Stories to remind their followers to enable the option to receive notifications when the creator shares any content

In this way, Instagram wants to help content creators 📈 increase the reach and engagement of their content, but the decision to enable or not to enable notifications stays with the follower

🤔 At this point, there is no clue what will be shown when the viewer taps on the sticker, but most likely the sticker will open the same interface with the option to enable notifications as on the profile of the user you follow

💾 Saved tab on your profile

Instagram is 🧑‍💻 considering the ability to show a tab with your Saved Collections directly on your Profile

The Saved tab will be placed among other public tabs — but remaining a note that the Saved tab is only visible to you

🧐 The interface is built as a usual entry to the Saved category, when you select a collection, the default Saved interface is opened, post tiles will not be shown on the profile interface as you might think or expect

💟 Stories Highlights may change their shape

Instagram is 🧑‍💻 working on a redesign of the Story Highlights, and instead of small circles, the Cover of the Highlights may look like large, tightly placed Cards

The Card format will increase the emphasis and value of the Cover of the Highlight, as well as visually increase the space that Highlights take up on the Profile

🤔 However, this creates another problem, as the default size of the Highlight Cover is 150×150, this image is additionally cropped to a ratio of ~7:10, and the output is a blurry picture of ~105×150

Instagram does not yet provide for the option to set the Cover in the new size 💁‍♂️, which will probably depend on whether this redesign is widely implemented after the results of testing this redesign

⏩ Browsing Mode in Highlights Stories

Instagram is 🧑‍💻 working on additional functionality for Highlights that will give you the ability to «run your eyes through» all the Stories in the current Highlight by tapping the appropriate icon

You will 🕵‍♂ see a row of preview thumbnails of all the Stories in the selected Highlight at the bottom of the screen, so you can quickly navigate between the Stories by simply sliding them left or right

☝ This will help you quickly figure out which Story you're most interested in and move to it directly, making it easier to navigate, especially if there are a bunch of Stories in the Highlights

ℹ Only works for Hightlights and doesn't apply to Stories
