Talk To Life (TTL) Interview With Yoftahe (Y)
TTL . Can you tell us about yourself briefly?
Y : I am called Yoftahe (Happy; as mostly known by), a wellbeing entrepreneur, trained in and working on a blend of two professions, namely Architecture and Yoga, devised a new profession tag that I call “Self Engineer”. Passionately engaged on understanding and tapping into the most complex building/technology on the planet, which is the Human Mechanism.
TTL . How was the startup time of your passion? Which moment motivates you to go forward to an established?
Y : It all started with a journey of SELF EXPLORATION, a high level curiosity of what a Human Being is and how we functions, which rolled childhood to Campus where I got to study Architecture in Mekelle University, a broad study of the Art and Science of Design and making of buildings. Where after my curiosity was more intense about the Art and Science in the design and Mechanism of Human Beings and why so many people on the planet got to be less of using it well, let alone mastering the Body and the Mind. Which led me to the exploration of the ancient Science of Yoga, giving me an insight to the wider understanding of the human function and how almost everyone is driven by the Body-Mind Complex than using it as a powerful Creation (Natural Technology) we came with. So I went abroad to study on International Yoga programs in Nairobi, Kenya and in Bangalore India (Vivekananda University of Inner Sciences). Coming back I got to mix my two studies of Architecture and Yoga to build a Social Enterprise platform called Khul (in geez language meaning Abilities/Possibilities, or Kihelot in Amharic) Holistic Development Center, which aims to deliver services of SELF ENGINEERING, as a tag line that I came up with, which is also what I refer to when I got asked about what my profession is, with the aim to solve some of the fundamental and pressing issues in our society which are as well similar anywhere around the world, sourced at the base of Human Wellbeing. Where according to UN research about 800,000 people commit suicide every year, which is a whooping figure of human destruction by ourselves, not being able to handle our sophisticated Natural Technology of Body, Mind and Emotions.
TTL . Is there any specific book, movie, music, or any kind of work that has been instrumental for you to any of your works?
Y : The book that has the highest significance in my journey is “myself” with so many AHA moments, reading through, while sat in Meditation, self-introspection, journaling, etc
Yet if I have to put up other works which still have big places in, I would say
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- Autobiography of a Yogi
- Philosophers Notes, by Brian Johnson (summaries of top transformational books)
TTL . Is there any situation that you used your professional prospects to mobilize society? Or to impact towards any set goal?
Y : Me and my team, as Khul team of possibilitarians, aspire to be on multitude of stages, local to global in inspiring and creating platforms for Self Engineering of Societies towards a Self-Aware and Self-conscious communities. One Breath of an Individual at a Time.
TTL . How is your life and socialization with other professionals?
Y : I believe all professions have a place to fill in our social complex and also love to stretch myself to understand other professions and I end up getting more perspectives about my own.
TTL . What part of Ethiopian history fascinates you? Why?
Y : The Middle Ages, 16th century, where Ethiopia was in a moment of dark age, which brought light to philosophers like ZeraYacob, in open up possibilities to social and spiritual restructuring of the society back then.
