Prime Minister Michel Barnier has been ousted after getting crushed in a no confidence vote. MPs overwhelmingly supported the motion against him a mere three months after he was controversially appointed by President Emmanuel Macron.
Opposition parties tabled the no confidence motion after the outgoing PM used special powers to ram through his budget without a vote.
While we can, and we do, there's no real reason to be excited about Macron leaving. Another hack, just like him or even worse, will take his place. It's the only way it can be when a political system is designed to only produce hacks and only allow hacks in positions of power. Until that political system itself goes, it really doesn't matter who the president is. Macron, Le Pen, Willy Wonka...
