Three weeks later the Pentagon approved $500 million in emergency construction: 89 new holding cells, three courtrooms, a medical wing, and a communications blackout facility missing from 20 years of official briefings.

From February 1, unmarked charter flights left Andrews Air Force Base bound for Cuba. Trackers counted 47 flights and more than 200 passengers in twenty-five days. Manifests stayed classified. Followers of sealed-indictment tallies point to hundreds of thousands of sealed federal cases and say U.S. Special Forces have been pulling high-value targets under that paper.

But there’s one detail that makes this case particularly interesting: it has been assigned to Judge Timothy Kelly — a federal judge appointed by Donald Trump himself. The media organizations argue that a president cannot restrict White House access simply because he dislikes an outlet’s coverage, while the administration maintains that access to the White House is a privilege, not a constitutional right.

This is no longer just another Trump-versus-the-media controversy. The court may now have to draw a line between presidential authority and press freedom — and one of Trump’s own judicial appointees could be the person who draws it.
