There are still people who don’t know how views for Telegram posts work.
1. Views are the same all across Telegram. They are only attached to posts in channels, private or public, but the views counter keeps ticking everywhere. A channel post forwarded by a bot to the PM of a user subscribed to the bot will get as many views as the number of times the post has been read. Every view counts, be it posts forwarded to PM, chats or anywhere else.
That has always provided (and is now used by some scammers) enormous leeway for traffic cheating. If you subscribe 10 thousand “bots” that read posts to a private channel, the posts that were forwarded there will get these 10k views, and it will be displayed on the main channel.
2. (a hypothesis established as early as last year) Views get reset to zero every time the clock hits 00:00:00 server time. Servers are in different places, channels are in different places as well, and so the resetting happens differently for everyone. Resetting means that when you view the same post a second time, it will get +1 to views.
To put it simply, if you see the same post two days in a row when opening the channel, it will get 2 views.
3. Views get counted the moment you see an “eye icon” on your screen.
So, if the main screen of your channel has 3 posts (1 per day), they all will get x3 to real views.
4. When using the “scroll down” button, no views get counted for “transit” posts. So if you have been quite the paper-stainer and a channel’s follower taps the scroll-down-to-the-bottom icon, then the older messages won’t get any views whatsoever until he/she scrolls his/her way back up.
That’s why, among other reasons, post and channel rating based on views is not only a thing of the past but also a step in the wrong direction to begin with.
