Откуда выражение whiskey on the rocks?
Считается, что шотландцы раньше использовали камешки из реки, чтобы охладить виски (а в моём детстве в реке мы охлаждали арбузы (и чачу)).
а ещё можно так:
neat - a spirit served at room temperature without ice or mixers
straight up - a cocktail that is shaken or stirred with ice, then strained and served without ice
with a twist - a drink served with a twist of citrus peel, usually lemon
please enjoy responsibly :)

Would you like that whiskey on the rocks or neat?
straight up - a cocktail that is shaken or stirred with ice, then strained and served without ice
The martini comes straight up, but I can serve it on the rocks if you prefer.

I'd like a gin and tonic with a twist
please enjoy responsibly :)
