This is a picture of the house that my 3rd great grandmother lived in before coming to America around 1870. It is in Smaaland, Sweden.

My Nana always had it framed on her wall and would tell the story of her coming over on the boat, falling in love with a Dane, and marrying my 3rd gg upon arrival.

These are the little stories I cling to as they are so precious. Today I made a bunch of copies of the photos I've inherited which I'll use to create our 'Ancestor Wall' with the children for October/autumn...

So greatful for the bits and pieces to our puzzle.

As you can see, she wasn't from a wealthy family and left many siblings behind; my very extended family is still in Sweden (and Denmark).

Hail the ancestors! That I come from strong, courageous stock who faced every facet of life to carve out their own- who knew perseverance and humility.

I may share a few more bits of my family story in the coming days bc it should be told.

Missing my creatures so much these days... 😥 Here are two ram lambs born on our farm spring before last. The weather changing to cold, I miss walking out to greet the flock each day, their foggy breath on the cold morning air. Their "baaa" for fresh day, the smell of their greasy fleece... I can't wait to shepherd again.
