Since I finished reading Beyond Dutroux, I have stumbled into some other rabbit holes, regarding the accused who got off free, several of them being involved in Operation Gladio in Belgium (the author of the work, claims they were tied to underground fascist networks, but I believe he is wrong about this just from some of the digging I have done into these people, their families, and connections, although I do give the author credit for acknowledging that they very well maybe connected to Operation Gladio, the CIA, and MI6.) But to start, has anyone ever wondered exactly the word "sadist" or "sadism" originated from? It's from this guy, Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade. He was a philosopher, a revolutionary politician during the French Revolution, and an absolute degenerate fuck. Wrote a famous and controversial work called 120 Days in Sodom. Although wikipedia seems to gloss over this, I'd imagine it's safe to say he was also a pedophile. But this is where the term "sadistic" comes from. This faggot here.
