USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO PROPAGATE THE DA'WAH

Question:
Recently, I started uploading classes and translations on YouTube, but some of my noble brothers mentioned some points of objection, such as the principle: 'warding off evil takes precedence over bringing about good', so I seek your advice.

Answer:
Wa'aleikum salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

O my brother Abu Ishaq, may Allāh reward you for your efforts in terms of uploading lessons and benefits, whether that be on WhatsApp, Telegram, Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube. For indeed, knowledge should be propagated through all media platforms, and we must outstrip the people of evil by propagating (correct) Aqeedah, Tawheed, Salafi Da‘wah, advices and goodness. And the origin is that YouTube channels are like any other media platforms; in that you're able to upload your files onto your individual channel without it containing any (animate) images or anything of this nature. And whoever searches on this platform will find this (good) and that (evil); so whoever searches for good finds it and whoever searches for evil will also find it. And we must fear Allāh according to our ability. I personally believe that it's incumbent upon us to propagate using these platforms in order to outstrip the people of evil and corruption. And the goodness is noticeable and evil is on the decline. Whoever seeks good finds it and whoever seeks evil finds it. YouTube is considered to be from the most far-reaching media platforms, such that getting to the people of evil is made very easy; in that you are able to refute the likes of ‘Adnan Ibrahim (a deviant) so that whoever searches for Adnan Ibrahim comes across your refutation against him. You are able to refute the Jahmiyyah, the Mu'tazilah, the Rafidhah, the Hizbees and all the other people of falsehood; whereby a great deal of good takes place and a clear victory is attained. And we have nothing to do with the evil (that goes on), nor does it have anything to do with us, and all praises belong to Allāh. May Allah bless you. As for this principle [warding evil takes precedence over bringing about good], then the good/benefit sought from this (i.e. utilising these platforms) is propagating Tawheed and the Sunnah; which is the greatest good. And the evil (presumed) is one which is speculative and confined to those who seek and search for evil. Otherwise, the righteous are far from evil. May Allāh bless you, and all praise be to Allāh.

Allah commanded with Justice, and encouraged it. Rather Allah is described with this great attribute, Allah says

and your Lord treats no one with injustice.

It is known with Ahlus Sunnah that the attributes which are negated (from Allah), it is necessary to affirm the opposite of these negated attributes in a most complete and perfect manner when it is regarding Allah. So he negated oppression from himself due to his complete justice.

Also the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم was upon a great moral conduct in this chapter, and in all other pathways of good. He used to dislike oppression and warn from it, rather he commanded those who migrated to start with migration to Abbasynia “for in it is a king that does not oppress those amongst him” or as the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said.

Thus justice is desired, the heavens and the earth are established by way of it, and for that reason the scales were placed on the day of judgment

Clarifying the conditions which obligate spending (on someone):

1. That the one being spent on is one who will inherit.
2. That the one being spent on is poor and in need.
3. That the one being spent on has ease (of money), but he is able to spend on him.

The ruling of a son getting his father married if he is in need of marriage?

Many of the people of knowledge have gone towards the obligation of the children or the son getting their father married if he is in need of marriage, and fears upon himself from sin.

As it is also obligatory upon the father to aid his child upon marriage, if the child is in need of marriage and fears upon himself from sin.

With this you come to know that the one who has married more than one woman, one of his wives has numerous children, whilst the other does not have any. Then it is not obligatory to be equal between them in spending, rather it is only obligatory to be just with them. Justice is that you give each one of them from amongst them that which suffices her and suffices her children.

A woman who is alone (without children) is sufficed with that which the one who has children is not sufficed with, for that reason each one is given that which suffices her and her children and this is justice.

One should be warned from slacking off, for once it enters the souls the souls become harmed by it.

For that reason the prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم would say oh Allah I seek refuge with you from incapacity and laziness

If this slacking off is in accordance to the Sunnah where as at times you are enthusiastic and at times you slack off, but you perform that which Allah has made obligatory upon you then the individual is excused due to this.

Due to the statement of the prophet

“The one who’s period of slacking off is towards my Sunnah, then he is successful, and if it is other than that then he is destroyed”

As for if this slacking off prevents you from obligatory acts then this is prohibited and he is sinning due to it

We should be happy with this good,
Allah says:

Say: "In the Bounty of Allah, and in His Mercy (i.e. Islam and the Qur'an); -therein let them rejoice." That is better than what (the wealth) they amass.

Firstly: we should be Happy with us being guided to Islam
Secondly: we should be happy with us being guided to the Sunnah
Thirdly: we should be happy with us being guided to this knowledge
Fourthly: we should be happy with us sitting with the people of knowledge, the people of the Sunnah, and being distant from the people of innovation.
Firstly: we should be happy with freeing ourself for seeking knowledge. (Look at) How much of these affairs a student of knowledge should be happy with, if he realizes the bounty in which he is in and the blessing which he is upon

Two important affairs: Patience and Dua, then it is upon us that we are gentle with the students of knowledge when teaching them, presenting it well, reaching the benefit to them, and repeating if the affair is need of repetition. Seeking knowledge is considered cooperation between the scholar and the seeker, between the student and the teacher, between the one presenting and the listener. There must be cooperation Allah says

Help you one another in Al-Birr and At-Taqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression.
