Keyboard Maestro macro alternative?
Hi, is there a way to create a macro like this in another app? I'm currently using the Keyboard Maestro trial, but I think is an overkill as I'm just going to use it to create a popup where I can select my different emails, addresses, etc. Before I was using Raycast snippets, but I don't think it lets me create something like this? And having to remember every shortcut for each email and address was too much. Thanks

Top 20 lists of Mac apps: surprisingly useful to see other people's lists
I've loved people posting their Top 20 Mac Apps lists, because twenty seems like a magic number. It's enough that the lists start to include the more obscure, specialized tools that you never hear about because they get no marketing. Some Top 20's I've enjoyed so far:u/amerpie's (everyone here is probably familiar with his nice app reviews on the subreddit): I Picked My Top 20 AppsKanat Akylson (a dev): Top 20 MacOs Apps for your Productivity (requires a Medium subscription though)Bakari Chavanu, a Mac-writer-extraordinaire, is currently working on his list (presumably will be posted to his Mac Automation Tips site, and I'll comment with it when it's up).Not a true top 20, but yesterday's "20 apps that haven’t been mentioned here AFAIK" thread had a ton of new-to-me obscure apps. And then here's my Top 20 as a dev (my expanded list is here with screenshots/video-clips/bad-jokes):One Thing (free): put a current focus for your time right up in your menu bar where you can't not-see-it.Yoink: stop wanting to punch your own face every time you drag and drop.Day Progress (free): give your brain an intuitive sense of how much of the day you've burned through.BusyCal: calendar power-tools.Bunch (free): auto-set-up your apps and settings for particular types of computer sessions, priming yourself for focused work.MindNode: mind-mapping that "flows" really nicely from the keyboard.Path Finder: Finder but with so many features that it's a little intimidating.Soulver: notebook style calculator (in the style of the new Apple Notes features, but better).Supercharge: tweak billions (that's my completely accurate estimate) of macOS behaviors, along with other tools.CleanShot X: best screenshot/recording app I've used by far, including scrolling capture, grabbing audio, and good annotations.Warp (free): a powerful terminal where the most useful feature to me is treating commands and their output as "blocks".Raycast (free-ish): probably not a surprise to anyone here, but a slick launcher with a new "focus session" feature that I really like.Visual Studio Code **(free)*- with extensions (free): Microsoft made a good text editor?!Color Picker (free): Sindre Sorhus consistently making the best small, focused apps.BetterTouchTool: "If Batman were an app, he’d be BetterTouchTool": utility belt of automating actions off of just about any trigger.Workflowy: a not-very-Mac-like infinite outliner that makes up for it in sheer practicality.DockDoor (free): my current favorite "peek at the windows an app has open while hovering over the dock icon" app.Pixelmator Pro: probably needs no introduction, but Photoshop-without-the-clutter-and-without-going-bankrupt-from-the-subscription.Firefox (free) + Tree Style Tab (free): I know there's sleeker browsers, but Tree Style Tab makes up for everything.IINA (free): QuickTime Player except that it has a bunch of features and doesn't annoy me.These lists take surprisingly long to make if you fully link up and comment on each item, but I'd love to see everyone's lists even just in plain name-dump form.

How to turn of Mac Mail reminders
I am tired of receiving reminders for mail that I've deleted (in the trash). This remind me "feature" causes me more work. How do I turn it off? Mail won't let me clear the reminders except 1-by-1
Thanks!!

buy Sensei in 2025?
looking for an all-in-one mac performance optimizer, saw alot of 2025 reccomendations in videos such as OnyX (literally just a cleaner), and CleanMyMac, but these were not all-in-one. most sensei reviews i saw were from 2019-2020, but i've still seen it reccomended in forums alot. is sensei still good??
disclaimer: i am not paying for CleanMyMac, it is twice the price
another disclaimer: i'm well aware macOS optimizes itself for me. i still want a performance optimizer and cleaner app

Quality of a movie on mac
Do you have any idea how I can find out the quality of a video I'm selling through the browser on Mac, maybe with an extension or something else I don't know?

NVIDIA Broadcast App for Mac(??)
Hey everyone,I'm looking for a native macOS application that offers similar functionality to NVIDIA Broadcast, specifically the Eye Contact effects.I know that NVIDIA Broadcast is exclusive to Windows and relies on RTX GPUs, so I'm wondering if there's an equivalent app for Mac users that can achieve the same results?Has anyone come across a good alternative? I’d love to hear your recommendations! Thanks in advance! 🙌

Contexts - worth buying it in 2025?
Hello, guys. First post here. Do you think it's still worth buying Contexts? I looked at their website and it looks like the last update was in 2022. I have rcmd and I love their other tools (I also bought clop and Lunar), but the inability to make it work by holding command + tab completely breaks my workflow. I'm trying unsuccessfully to create an automation using BTT so that when I click the command + tab keys it calls the right command, but I'm not having any success in the endeavor. So I installed contexts and it seems to work solidly (for now), do you think it's worth the risk or is it abandonware?

Email client for the elderly to avoid scams
Can anyone help with a good recommendation for an email client with a simple intuitive interface and very robust spam filtering?I'm trying to help an elderly person to not fall victim to scam emails. This person has been duped several times by individuals claiming to be representatives of companies with whom this person has services. They look legitimate at first glance and I can see how a non-computer savvy person can be fooled. I've tried teaching basic email skills to avoid these emails, but unfortunately the lessons don't stick. It would be great if this client also has iOS app as well.Any help will be greatly appreciated!

iStatMenus GPU 100% Spikes
Im on an M4 Pro with 20GPU cores and 48GB Memory. Why does iStatMenus keep saying my GPU is regularly spiking to 100% usage? Is it? Maybe something to do with the high refresh rate ramping up when there's movement? Very strange.Any help or info appreciated :)Edit: Probably should've mentioned this is when i'm idling or doing very little.

Company moving to Zoho Mail - Best email client?
TL:DR - what is the best email client for Zoho Mail. Looking for modern UX/UI and ideally AI/Chatgpt integration. I've always just used gmail.com for work since nearly every company I was with used it and my most used personal email is a gmail. The company I'm with now used Outlook (did not love it) and is moving everything over to Zoho. They don't have an app for mail (only team inbox).
I've read about Mailspring and Canary - both have mixed reviews. Promise more than they deliver. I've never been a huge fan of apple mail, but I've used an apple personally my whole adult life so maybe I just need to give it another try? That being said, I do use my mac addy for some personal things and I don't know that I love having both work and personal in the same email client. All suggestions welcome. I'm not opposed to paying a small upfront/monthly fee if it's worth it.

TextQuery — Analyze Data (CSV/JSON/XLSX) Locally Using SQL
TextQuery is an app I have been working on for the past year. I am a data nerd and I wanted an easy tool to analyze raw data. Existing tools frustrated me.Why do I have to spend time defining schemas? Why do I have to switch to another tool to visualize things? Why do these charts have to be so ugly? Why are these tools so slow, especially on large datasets.----------------TextQuery fixes all of these problems.✅ Automatically parses data and imports it to a DB in a few clicks. Ready for SQL magic. No hassle of defining schemas or writing code.
✅ Blazing fast. A 1GB file loads in under 5 seconds. Queries are even faster. Even on >10GB datasets, most queries can be finished in less
