What is Bluesky and why are so many people suddenly leaving X for the platform?

They are getting desperate. And in serious need of a safe space, where unpleasant realities are not allowed to intrude.

Does anyone know anyone on Bluesky? I certainly don't.

AI and the Healthcare Industry

A) We have all seen the news this week of the Google chatbot telling the student to die
Google AI chatbot responds with a threatening message: "Human … Please die."
Google has admitted that "Large language models can sometimes respond with non-sensical responses, and this is an example of that. This response violated our policies and we've taken action to prevent similar outputs from occurring."

B) A couple of days ago I posted a video of Bill Gates speaking about Death Panels.

We all know what they call triage happens, medical staff with limited resources need to decide where to expend these resources. In effect, deciding who lives and who dies. Extremely stressful decisions that need to be made very quickly.

C) We also know the NHS is moving towards more and more automation. Symptoms are input, and the system gives the required output, almost always a prescription for drugs. Given cost pressures, more and more decisions will be taken automatically. If the NHS system is not fully generative AI today, it certainly will be tomorrow.

I am just throwing this out there, especially in light of the "assisted dying" vote that is coming this week in Britain. For now, in the bill, the decision process is voluntary (but we know what that can mean in practice) and human led. Will it always be?

Revealed: ‘Grassroots’ campaigns opposed to assisted dying financed by conservative Christian pressure groups

Campaigns against assisted dying that claim to be led by healthcare workers and disabled people are being secretly coordinated and paid for by conservative Christian pressure groups, an Observer investigation has found.

I have no idea if it is true or not (and don't care), but that the staunchest supporter of groups like Hope Not Hate complains about coordinated pressure groups is completely laughable.

Do you think if I send them my bank details these Christian pressure groups could finance me as well? Christmas in the Caribbean would be nice.

Farmers besiege Welsh Labour conference

I am not sure that Labour really understands what they have awakened.

They really do believe that their massive landslide victory (with 3 million votes less than Corbyn I never tire of repeating) gives them carte blanche fir the next 4 or 5 years.

You can only accuse so many people, so many times of being "far right" before it gets old.

You can only disdain so many groups before it becomes obvious that you disdain everyone.

You can only run out the backdoor and not face the music so many times before it becomes obvious to all just how much of a coward you are.

Starmer and Labour are an abomination that will soon find itself all alone both on the national, but also on the international scene.

Budget tax hike could destroy 100,000 jobs, Deutsche Bank estimates

This is what Labour and its star "economist" are doing to us.

And note, the 100,000 lost jobs figure is ONLY from the increase in employers' national insurance announced in the budget.

But have no fear, Labour will blame the job losses on Brexit and Trump.

And their only real "solution" is to rely even more on the City. The very rich will get richer, normal people will fall further behind.

This is what happens when you hand over the reins of the economy to someone whose knowledge of economics comes from having once worked for a short time in the complaints department of a bank.

The exodus from X to Bluesky has happened – the era of mass social media platforms is over

The Guardian has moved off X.
Therefore X is dead!!!!

They really do think they are the centre of the universe.

(And please note, if the Guardian were actually required to earn money, they would have died in 2014.)

So Gaby, and all your ilk at the Guardian (and MSNBC, CNN, etc.), please just move over to BlueSky where you can live happily ever after, unburdened by the real world.
