The two degrees of relapse.
As I continue my longest personal streak, I have had time to reflect on my past relapses. I noticed a pattern with each one and hopefully this may help someone else out there who may be struggling.
I've found that a relapse comes in two degrees or phases: first the mental relapse, followed by the physical. The alcoholic who relapses doesn't suddenly find himself with liquor going down his throat. He wallows in his misery, he drives to the bar or liquor store, he makes his purchase or orders his drink, and then the act happens.
When we PM, the urge has been building, and the decision to fap is made long before any self-stimulation happens. We must defuse the buildup before the subconscious relapse happens, be it a complete disconnect from our digital input or remove ourselves from our environment by some reasonable means.
I don't have a stellar closer, just had this thought in my head for a while. Keep up the fight.
