"Without data you're just another person with an opinion"💡

Data avoids arguments so does the willingness to seek out data. If none of us has data to share then we can't help but bring our own personal biases, preferences, and opinions to the table — anyone might be right, but who's to say ?
It's why I love this quote from W. Edwards Deming:
"Without data you're just another person with an opinion."

Perhaps you've been in a car with several backseat drivers who all seem to know better than the driver. Or maybe you've been part of a review for a new initiative where everyone has their own views of what will make it succeed. We can't know who's right until we bring some data. It's amazing how even a little data can avoid an "I'm right, you're wrong" situation.

And where there isn't data, framing a discussion on how to quickly gather data or experiment to find out which approach may be best so often focuses a team, removing ego and opinions.

After all, as saying goes:
"If we have data, let's look at data. If all we have are opinions, let's go with mine."

"Key to Happiness"🔑

People want to become wealthier to make themselves happier, but according to Housel the key to happiness is the ability to do what you want, when you want, with who you want, for as long as you want” The pursuit of material wealth has led to many people working harder and giving up more control over their time, despite being richer than ever before. However, studies show that having control over your life is the most dependable predictor of positive feelings of wellbeing, more than your salary, house size, or career prestige. Ultimately, controlling your time is the highest dividend money pays. Pursuing money without valuing time is like filling a bucket with a hole in it. No matter how much water you pour in, it will continue to leak out. Similarly, no matter how much money you accumulate, it won't bring lasting happiness if you don't have control over your time and can't enjoy the fruits of your labor.

❓What do you think?❓

Why you blame others but not yourself...🤔

Fundamental attribution error. We judge others' behaviors on their personality or fundamental character, but we attribute our own behaviors to situational factors. If Simon is late to work, it's because he's a lazy person and doesn't take his job seriously. If you're late to work, however, it's the traffic and the weather's fault. Try to catch yourself in situations where you're judging someone else on their personality in a way that you would blame external factors in the same scenario.

"The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon" 🤨

You buy a certain brand of car, and all of a sudden, you start seeing that car everywhere, whereas you didn’t in the past. When you learn a new word or new concept, suddenly you start seeing it everywhere in your life. You start thinking, “Wow, this is weird, how is it possible I’ve never seen this word in my life and now I have seen it 3 times this week or why do I keep seeing those new shoes everywhere I go, they must be becoming so popular. The Baader-Meinhof phenomenon is an illusion in which, after noticing something for the first time, there is a tendency to notice it more. It occurs when increased awareness of something creates the illusion that it is appearing more often and then perpetuates your search to keep confirming that these coincidences must have some kind of meaning. Basically, our brains are master pattern recognition machines that are always searching for meaning in data. What is amazing are all the patterns and stimuli flooding you every single day that your brain simply ignores because it is not in your awareness. We only see the things we are looking out for. In reality, you have most likely seen that word or car a number of times, but your mind simply wasn’t interested in noticing it.

"Why it seems people are watching you?"🤔

You arrive five minutes late to the office and you feel like everyone is judging you. It's your first day at the gym and you feel like everyone is watching you. You spill a small amount of sauce on your shirt and you feel so embarrassed because the whole party is going to notice. The spotlight effect is a phenomenon in which people tend to believe if people are observing them more than they are. People are seldom interested in you and your actions as much as you think, so do yourself a favor, stop overestimating how much people are observing you and reduce the anxiety that is probably just the result of the spotlight effect.

Rule number #3
"Focus on what’s under your control"

So many guys worry about things outside of their control, they go crazy about issues like other people, politics, or problems with the modern world. Pathetic. the Stoics emphasize the importance of focusing on things we can control and letting go of what we cannot control, understanding this will make you practical and prevent you from wasting time worrying about things that are not worth it, while you focus on things that actually make you achieve your goals.

#stoics

Rule number #2
"Conquer your mornings."

Marcus Aurelius was the Roman Emperor. He was a great man looked up to by many, but in reality, he was an ordinary man of Flesh and Blood, a mortal, no different from you and me, you see, Marcus Aurelius had days where he felt lazy, he knew, he needed to get out of bed but he desired to stay under the warm covers, but what made him great is that he didn't fall into these temptations and failed to take care of his tasks early in the morning. He knew that winning the mornings was the key to winning the day and succeeding in life. Personally, I adopt two actions to have a productive morning first I write the most important tasks down the night before so I don't have to think about what to do when I wake up. Second, I engage in physical activity not necessarily intense sports but moving my body to awaken my mind after that I get to action and attack the morning. Remember, keep things simple you don't need a complex and long morning routine at all.
