THE ONGOING 10TH CRUSADE

In all that has been happening the past century or so, in the Middle East and North Africa, something is being overlooked. It's how, after the 9th Crusade and six centuries, the French and British went back to the Middle East to occupy Egypt and the Levant. The occupation of Syria in 1920 is well known by Muslims and particularly Arabic speaking ones, due to the romantic and theatrical French general, Henri Gouraud, going to the tomb of Salah Al-Din (Saladin) and saying “We're back, Saladin.”
Gouraud is also said to have added the words “Wake up and stop us”. Most people living in the Muslim world probably know this story, since it was very insulting to Islamic history and Muslim people. After all. even now Saladin is still considered as a hero and a great leader, the leader who liberated Jerusalem from the Crusaders, whom the West still portrays as heroes rather than terrorists.
And so, with the late 19th and early 20th century Anglo-French interventions in the Middle East, the 10th Crusade started. Some may say that Britain and France remain colonial powers and that they were only looking for resources, territories of strategic importance, etc. But, even if they were forced out of most countries, before leaving Palestine, they left behind a poisonous entity, called Israel.
Some say that westerners just dumped the Zionist Hebrew issue on Palestinians and Arabs, especially through the existence of accords like the Haavara accord. But, in reality they left an organism through which they could continue their 10th Crusade and keep control over the ‘holy land’, knowing that 80% of Zionists are not actually Hebrew. The Zionist project becomes far clearer if we recognize the essentially Crusading roots mentality behind the unthinking support Zionism receives in the West!
As further proof, let's take as an example the village of Hattin, a historically important one in the region's history. It was there, at the battle of Hattin, that Saladin crushed the the crusader armies and their generals, facilitating the liberation of the rest of the Levant with the exception Acre which was taken in 1291 and, therefore, putting an end to Anglo-French Crusader occupation. But, if you look for that village on a map, you will not find it. Instead you will find articles about how people from Hattin committed an alleged “massacre” in 1938 of Hebrews, killing 20 people. This was used as a justification for a massacre committed in the said village in 1948. Yes! 10 years later, a Zionist terrorist group destroyed Hattin and caused it’s abandonment.
This event is just one among the countless Zionist massacres aimed at the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians. But, it is a particularly symbolic one. Knowing that the royal air force participated in this, it was most probably a pay back to the Arabs for the 1187 Battle of Hattin, making, in my opinion, the claim of a 10th crusade all the more real.
Oscar Nanni, an Italian political commentator, once wrote, in an interesting exchange of opinions, that the only way to a durable world peace, is for all religions to be abandoned. The Levant has been terrorized by religiously inspired wars for more than a 1000 years. Considering all the human killing and suffering that accompanies such war, is Oscar’s assertion the only real option we are left with? Or, could a more culturally orientated education, centering on respect and acceptance, also be a viable option?
Whether or not it is realistic, whether it's an unattainable goal or just a utopian way of thinking, it seems more attractive to think of a world based on ideological tolerance and acceptance as the more viable option,
