📃 Topic: My Favourite Actor is Daniel Radcliffe

My name is Miraziz. I like many actors but my favourite actor is Daniel Radcliffe. Daniel was born on 23 July 1989 in Fulham, London, England. From the childhood he was desirous of being a famous actor.
Daniel was spotted in the cinematography when Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire appeared in 2005. He was considered the youngest actor of the future. He became famous after he played part in movie December Boys. His every role incarnates very strong and single-minded person. Heroes whom Daniel plays are capable of a great pure love and they appreciate friendship. They are strong and wise people.
I like how he shows poise in company. He always remains just a man not a celebrity. Daniel Radcliffe is very talented guitarist. He is very romantic and enigmatic actor.
Daniel Radcliffe won a prize of 2006 MTV Movie Awards U.S. for Best Actor in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Now Daniel is still in the films and he’s prospective. I hope that the following films with Daniel will be as interesting and breathtaking as previous.

Save Environment

The gifts provided by the natural environment are bliss for mankind as well as for the other living organisms. These natural resources including air, sunlight, fresh water, fossil fuels etc. are so vital that life can never be possible without them. However, with the increase in the greed for material goods by the large population, these resources are being used and misused beyond their limits. This, rather than ‘economic development’ is proving to be more hazardous for human health, which has been discussed below.

Reasons to Save Environment to Save Life on Earth

Following are the points describing pollution due to Misuse and Wastage of natural resources and their effects on life of living beings on the earth, thus we must save our environment to save life on earth:

Air Pollution: The increase in the use of petrol and diesel for transportation and the burning of fossil fuels in industries to produce energy make a terrible contribution in polluting the air. This results in an increase in the levels of sulphur oxides, hydrocarbons, chloro-fluoro-carbons, carbon monoxide, etc. These hazardous gases negatively affect human health causing chronic bronchitis, lung cancer and various other respiratory diseases. Also, causing the depletion of ozone layer, making mankind vulnerable to ultraviolet rays, air pollution not only accelerates ‘global warming’ but also weakens the immune system.Water Pollution: The suspension of water soluble inorganic chemicals from industries, release of untreated human and animal wastes in fresh water and draining of fertilizers and pesticides during irrigation in rivers lead to water pollution. This not only makes the water unfit for drinking, such that its consumption causes gastro-intestinal diseases but also causes cancer. Moreover, by affecting the aquatic life negatively, water pollution makes fish unfit for consumption.Soil Pollution: Use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in soil not only kills’ bad but also good pests, thereby providing us with less nutritious crops. Also, the exposure to chemical infected crops due to soil pollution over several years causes mutations, produces cancer, etc. Soil erosion caused due to excessive deforestation and construction aids in the frequency of floods, which results in the destruction of human life on a massive scale.Noise Pollution: Excessive noise emanating from factories and vehicles can cause physical damage to the ear, resulting in temporary or permanent hearing loss. Amongst Homo sapiens, noise pollution also has negative effect on mental, emotional and psychological health, causing stress, anxiety and irritability, thereby adversely affecting the performance at work.

Methods for Saving the Environment

Pondering over the pages of history, it can be observed that our ancestors were more concerned about saving our environment, than we are today. This can be witnessed in the contributions of Sunderlal Bahuguna, who through Chipko Movement guarded the forest resources. Similarly, Medha Patkar effectively saved the environment of the tribal people, which was negatively impacted due to the construction of dams on the Narmada River. We as the youth of today can take small steps, to similarly save our natural environment:

We should promote and also apply to the concept of 3R’s, i.e. reduce, recycle and reuse in order to prevent the excessive use of non-renewable resources. For instance, metal scrap can be used to make new metal products.Use energy efficient tube lights and bulbs that save energy.Reduce the use of paper and wood products wherever possible and go for e-book and e-paper.Reduce the use of fossil fuels by opting to walk or using car pool or public transport.Use jute/cloth bags instead of plastic bags.Use rechargeable batteries/ solar panels.Setting up compost bin to produce manure to reduce the use of fertilizers.

Education

Education is the most important factor which plays a great role in the development of an individual as well as a country. Now a day, it has become a vital factor for the future brightness of the new generations of any society. Education has been made compulsory by the government for all the children of age 5 to 15. Education influences lives of everyone in positive ways and teaches us to tackle any big or small problems in life. Even after a big awareness in the society towards the necessity of education for everyone, the percentage of education is still not same in different areas of the country.

People living in the backwards areas are not getting proper benefits of good educational as they lack money and other resources. However, some new and effective strategies has been planned and implemented by the government to resolve the problems in such areas. Education improves the mental status and change the way of thinking of a person. It brings confidence and helps to convert the thinking into the action to go ahead and get success and experience.

Without education life becomes aimless and tough. So we should understand the importance of the education and its involvement in our daily lives. We should encourage the education in the backward areas by letting them know the benefits of education. Disabled people and poor people are equally required and have equal rights to get educated like rich and common people to get global development. Each of us should try our best to get educated at higher level as well as make the good education accessible for everyone globally particularly the poor and disabled people.

Some people are completely uneducated and living very painful life because of the lack of knowledge and skill. Some people are educated but do not have enough skill to earn money for their daily routine just because of the lack of proper education system in the backwards areas. Thus we should try to have equal opportunities of good education system for everyone whether living in rich or poor regions. A country cannot grow and develop without the individual growth and development of its citizens. Thus the development of any country depends hugely on the education standard available to its citizens. A good education system must have common goals in every areas of country to provide a suitable and proper learning to its citizens.

English as a common language

There are in Asia many different languages as well as many different dialects. This is true also of many parts of Africa where in Ghana alone there are many different languages, each one again, with many dialects. Therefore since it is only by the spoken word that human beings can communicate with one another, the necessity for a common language, whatever that common language may be, is obvious. Anyone finding himself in a foreign country, unable to speak a word of the native language there, will know a complete feeling of isolation and of being 'cut off' from everybody there. No amount of miming or acting can really restore adequate communication and even when skilled interpreters are employers, the process of translation is low and a great deal of the personal touch is lost.

Whether English should be the common language for the world is arguable, though there are some points in its favor. There is the fact that apart from Chinese, more people in the world speak English than any other language. It is spoken in most of North American continent, in Australia, New Zealand and Britain as well as in many other countries. In fact 290 million people have English as their national language. If it is accepted as the common language of the world, communication between the various countries would be easier.

English, too, is already a language which is known to a great many Asians. This is due to the fact that English speaking people had colonized and had been living there for over a century, and doing so, they brought their language with them. English is now taught in Asian, schools and today, many Asians have far better command of English than their European counterparts have of Asian languages. It is interesting to note that this is true of many African states as well. There, for many of the same reasons, English is known to a large number of African citizens.

The language of the twentieth century world is the language of science and technology. Often new words must be added to the language to keep up with modern inventions and developments. The list in the last ten years is endless. 'Television,' 'Telestar.' 'Sputnik' 'computer,' 'Penicillin,' 'Jet propelled' are just a few which illustrate new words for new inventions in many different spheres. Malay is a composite language. In other words, it is composed of may different parts. It is, therefore, capable of assimilating new words to cover modern needs. On the other hand, only over a hundred and eighty million people speak Malay, the common language of Malaysia and Indonesia, communication outside the region will be very limited, if indeed possible at all.

Nearly a billion people speak Chinese and so there would, at first sight, appear to be arguments in favor of Chinese as a common language. But there are many arguments against it ! The Chinese language is not, in the first place, based on Latin as most of the other languages like English are. It is composed of a series of 'characters' and symbols. It is, therefore very difficult indeed for 'ordinary' foreigners to learn it. The language does already include characters and symbols which cover scientific and technological words and phrases, but their use to the world in general is limited since such symbols and characters are virtually unfamiliar to the world outside China. Therefore although Chinese is spoken by so many millions of people, it is not as suitable as a common language as English.

Singapore is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. Her Prime Minister, together with his colleagues and fellow Prime Ministers from other Commonwealth countries meet to deliberate, to discuss and to shape policies on world affairs and they use English as the common language. It is necessary at all levels to be able to communicate thoughts, words and ideas. Singapore using English as one of her language would therefore, be able to contribute much that is wise and good to the welfare of mankind, even when Malay is her National Language.

Essay on Water

Water (chemical formula H2O) is a transparent chemical substance. It is one of the basic necessities for every living being be it plants or animals. Just as air, sunlight and food, water is needed for the proper growth and development of life on earth. Besides quenching our thirst, water is used for numerous other activities such as cleaning, washing and cooking to name a few.

Properties of Water

Water is mainly known for five of its properties. Here is a brief about these properties:

Cohesion and Adhesion

Cohesion, also referred to as water’s attraction to other water molecules, is one of the main properties of water. It is the polarity of water by way of which it is attracted to other water molecules. The hydrogen bonds present in water hold the water molecules together.

Adhesion is basically water’s attraction between molecules of varied substances. This substance bonds with any molecule it can form hydrogen bonds with.

Lower Density of Ice

The hydrogen bonds of water turn into ice when cooled down. The hydrogen bonds are stable and maintain their crystal like shape. The solid form of water which is ice is comparatively less dense as its hydrogen bonds are spaced out.

Water’s High Polarity

Water has high level of polarity. It is known to be a polar molecule. It is attracted to other polar molecules and ions. It can make hydrogen bonds and is thus a powerful solvent.

Water’s High-Specific Heat

Water can moderate temperature owing to its high specific heat. It takes a long time when it comes to heating up. It holds its temperature for long when heat is not applied.

Water’s High Heat of Evaporation

This is another property of water that renders it the ability to moderate temperature. As the water evaporates off a surface it leaves a cooling effect on the same.

Avoid Wastage of Water

Water is required for most of the activities we indulge in our day-to-day life. It is necessary for us to conserve it else our planet will be devoid of fresh water in the years to come. Here are a few ways in which water can be conserved:

Fix leaking taps immediately to avoid wastage of water without any delay.Avoid the use of shower while bathing.Keep your tap off while brushing your teeth. Turn it on only when required.Wash full loads of laundry instead of half. This will not only save water but save a substantial amount of electricity too.Do not leave the water running while washing dishes.Use rainwater harvesting system.Avoid using water hose for cleaning gutters. You can use brooms or other techniques instead.Use the right size of pans and other dishes while cooking and eating food. Avoid using those bigger than your requirement.Try to water your plants by hand rather than using sprinklers.Cover the pools so as to avoid water loss due to evaporation.

Conclusion

We must not waste water and contribute our bit towards its conservation. We must practice and promote activities and plans that help in conserving water and protecting its sources to meet the current and future demands of living beings.

Scouting

The Boy Scout movement was established in 1908 in the British Isles by Sir Baden Powell. Today the movement extends to every civilized country including India. From a trial experimental camp in 1907, the movement has spread with remarkable speed to almost every part of the world. In 1908, the handbook SCOUTING FOR BOYS was published. Over 1, 00,000 scouts served in His Majesty’s force during the First World War. 1,000 of them gave their lives. These scouts who were under age for active service performed public duties at home, one notable service being coast watchers. When the war broke out again in 1939 thousands of scouts once more joined the armed forces. During this war too, those scouts who were under age for active service carried out work of national importance for the government departments and civil authorities admitted that scouts had rendered particularly good service. Many of them were recommended for gallantry.

The aim of the movement is the development of good citizenship among the rising generation. Active self-expression is encouraged among the scouts and emphasis is laid upon their natural desire to learn rather than their passive reception of instructions. There are absolutely no distinctions of class, creed or color among scouts. The movement is non-military, non-class, no-sectarians, non-political and non-denominational. Honor is the ideal. The scout law, which forms the basis of ten events and which every scout has to obey. It was taken from THE CODE OF THE KNIGHTS and as such has its roots in the code of honor and gentlemanliness.

The movement is sub-divided into three groups, via, reserve, i.e. scouts of 17 years and above, boy scouts from 11 to 17 years and WOLF CUBS juniors form 8 to 11. The training is carried out generally four main features….namely character and intelligence, skill and handicraft, physical health and self- care and the practice of service to others and to the state. In other words scouts are trained with a view to developing their individuality and making them loyal members of the state. The training precedes mainly through open air activities ad scouts are encouraged to follow the examples of frontier men, tribesmen and explores in daring and initiative. There is an elaborate system of badges for proficiency which serves to stimulate the boys to develop their natural gifts and become all round handy man.

It is obvious form the above that the aims, objects and programs of scouting deserve the highest praise. The movement is praiseworthy on account of its wide scope and humanitarian motives. Scouting develops both the physical and moral attributes of boys through practical training. As such it should be regarded as a necessary part of educations in schools and colleges. Education had never been confined solely to the teaching of books. It should aim at developing the whole personality of the student. The place of scouting in educational institution is therefore very high. It is for this reason that almost every good school now-a-days has its scout master and its group of scouts. But it is necessary to widen and accelerate this movement especially in India where its progress has not been satisfactory.

In our schools only a superficial attention is paid to scouting. Scout-masters concentrate more upon the bright uniform, the parade, the salute, in short the outward show than upon the essential and basic principles upon which scooting was founded. In other words Indian schools possess only the form but not the spirit of scouting. And yet, in India more than anywhere else we need that sense of universal brotherhood which scout fosters and develop. The communal and sectarian institutions existing in our country are opposed to the very sprit of scouting and therefore, scouting show and parades are little more than a farce here.
