In response to Nick’s YouTube ban, there will inevitably be someone who says “but YouTube is a private corporation, they can do business with whoever they want.”
This argument is appealing because most of us support freedom of association, but the obvious problem with it is that these mega corporations have so much influence over the internet & the flow of information that they almost have more influence over speech than the government itself. When the founders created the first amendment, I doubt they envisioned private corporations being strong enough to silence people.
Libertarians like to see the world through their utopian principles, but never look at how the world actually works.
