Photo of a rare FAB-500T ("ФАБ-500Т") aerial bomb that flew yesterday in Kharkov Oblast with a Universal Planning and Correction Module.
Previously these bombs were not seen together with the UMPC. The FAB-500T bomb differs from the "classic" FAB-500M62 by its improved aerodynamic properties due to the elongated casing, as well as increased heat resistance, as it was once developed specifically for use from the MiG-25RB at high speeds.
The production of FAB-500T was noticed during Sergei Shoigu's inspection of the Nizhny Novgorod region's military-industrial complex enterprises in March of this year, when the FAB-3000 came to light and drew all the attention.
https://t.me/the_Right_People/31423"Here the T stands for "термостойкая" or simply "heat-resistant".
This allows it to withstand higher exit velocities, in fact it can be launched by aircraft at 2500km/h. This is applicable to other means of delivery, such as rockets ..."
You can see the composition of the explosive, it is TA-23, which similar to the TA-20. In general al TA-?? series consist of TNT with a concentrate of at least 20 per cent aluminium powder.
Some points need to be clarified here:
1) TNT is a petroleum product that is relatively readily available in Russia. It can be easily poured into shell blanks, while hexogen-containing explosives require pressing.
2) Aluminium powder, in turn, increases the explosion temperature.
After the outbreak of the war, this explosive began to be seen in Russian artillery shells such as the ОФ59, ОФ98 and ОФ99.
The conventional FAB-500 used a complex mixture of TGAF-5 ("ТГАФ-5") (TNT-hexogen-aluminium-phlegmatiser).
