TON sent investors a letter on the situation with the SEC

On October 11, 2019, The United States Securities and Exchange Commission filed an emergency lawsuit against Telegram Group Inc. and TON Issuer Inc. and a temporary restraining order has already been received.

Two days later, investors received a letter from the TON team in which they explain the situation. We quote it:

«We were surprised and disappointed that the SEC in these circumstances chose to go to court, and we do not agree with its legal position».

The letter also said that the team of Pavel Durov had been trying to establish contacts with representatives of the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for 18 months and to get clarification from their specialists about how they assess the TON project.

The letter says that now Telegram with its lawyers is analyzing ways out of this situation, including the possible postponement of the project launch date.

«We are working hard to quickly resolve this issue, and hope to provide new information within the next week».

Telegram team has officially confirmed the launch of TON in late October.

Investors in the ICO TON received a letter from the Telegram team.

The main ideas of this letter:
1. Following the launch of the testnet, the main network (mainnet) will be launched in the second half of October.
2. Investors are provided with the TON Key Generation Software: generator.ton.org. Keys are necessary to be able to get Gram after launching the mainnet. (We attach screenshots of this application to the post for review – it doesn't make sense to install it if you are not an investor.)
3. Investors will have to provide Telegram with the public key to receive their Grams by October 16th. This key will be confirmed using credentials provided in the Token Purchase Agreement.
4. The entire source code of TON is available at github.com/ton-blockchain/ton.
5. Investors have to select validators. Neither Telegram nor the TON Foundation will serve as validators post-launch. This is necessary for the decentralization of TON in the future.

According to the agreement of investors and Telegram leaked to the network, the launch on October 31 implies the launch of the main network and the distribution of Gram to investors. The launch of additional services specified in Roadmap will be a bit later.

The fact of the development of TON is officially announced by the Telegram team!

The official Telegram @contest channel, which publishes contests for developers, has announced competition for the creation of smart contracts for the Telegram Open Network blockchain platform.

A competition notice is also sent from the Telegram service account. Thus, absolutely all messenger users will receive the official announcement of the future blockchain platform.

🔥 The official TON website has been updated

TON website was updated tonight, now the node code is available for third-party developers. In addition, the TON testnet explorer became available. This is a tool that allows analyzing transactions and wallets in the blockchain. But for now, this blockchain only works in test mode.

What all this means for ordinary users who don’t need all these technical details:

1. The development of TON is really underway, and the team has expired its deadline for only 5 days this time. This is certainly a positive signal, since before that the postponements were much more protracted.
2. Gram cannot be bought yet. Don't forget that fraudsters keep their activities. Don't fall into their paws.
3. It seems that after 55 days (October 31), the TON blockchain will be launched.

The node code should be published on 1 September

The development of the core TON technology is almost completed, according to sources close to Telegram. The release should be rolled out by 1 September 2019. It will include the code of a node and the network validation module.

The TON team is finalizing the documentation for these instruments. This will be the final release before the launch of the main network. The main network will go live after public tests.

It seems like in a couple of weeks we can try the TON testnet.
